ive played GW for over a year, ive been playing WoW for a month.
in that time the WoW servers have been down EASILY twice as many times in a MONTH as the GW servers have been down in a YEAR.

It was a 2 hour off period from guild wars, I don't see why they should extend the weekend just for that, not like you can play the game 24/7 the entire weekend anyways.

Umm...I can be logged on for 24/7. And with the perfect alcohol intake I'll reach the point where I pass out and then an hour later need to wake up for more alcohol to keep my body functioning. Thats almost 24/7. But that only happens on good weekends, most of the time its excess drinking then body failure and ending up in the hospital with IV drips. But then you can flirt with nurses so thats not bad.

man, i'm glad i'm not alone with this...spent the last 3 hrs going thru my ISP settings, uninstalled and reinstalled everything a couple of times, and still no luck here in Massachusetts....first time i've had a problem with GW other than the extreme lag, which i was still seeing LOL
I was in the middle of doing "city under attack" quest in Raisu Pavillion when I was booted out of game, havent been able to log back in ever since 
also tried using anet's "Netinfotool" they linked in customer support, LOL the dang program freezes in middle of using it............Come on Anet, get your act together, this is a good way to lose quite a few gamers...

Two Canadian guildmates were kicked and encountered the same problem logging on as the OP. I (who live in Texas, U.S.) have had no problems whatsoever. Must be a regional server failure, or several regional server failures. That's my guess at least. =P

The rerouting around the bandwidth provider's server crash seems to have been quite successful. Glad to know that you're able to log in now. (And if some of you continue to have problems, I know they'll continue to monitor and work on this situation.)

Woah glad i'm not the only one here with the "Unable to connect to anet problem...check your connection" ( very annoying error->Drove me mad for the preview event..yes i missed it.)

I had this problem too, until just some sec's ago....
1: Go to "Control Panel"
2: press "Add or Remove Programs"
3: scroll down to Guild Wars and press "Change/remove"
(a new Guild wars window will open"
4: press ">Reinstall Guild Wars to its current location"
(it takes a cupple of sec's, u connect to arenanet and ur done)
5: try logging into guild wars again
*that was what worked for me*

i also had this problem. i ended up turning off EMON, the outlook monitor in nod32 and it works. This isn't a problem for me since i don't use outlook. I'm also not sure if there is a way to exclude certain files through emon. hope this helps
