Attack speeds?

the scythe attack itself is likely slow, maybe similar to a hammer. the whirling around will probably come from skills, akin to cyclone axe
Paragon spears... probably slowish, like bows, being ranged weapons, and all. If they can be used in melee, I imagine they'd be a bit slower than an axe, but faster than a hammer.

They will be one handed. Wouldn't make any sense to try to throw a spear with two hands.

The pic was posted on the Japanese official site for awhile, but soon replaced with the pictures that we have known about since Nightfall was announced. It was also posted with a picture of a female Dervish wielding a Scythe in 2 hands.
Anyway, the question I'm asking is this: Will Paragons be like Rangers are with arrows? Pulling random spears out of the air behind their backs and throwing them?

naturally...i think scythe is average...most scythe toting people from games seem to be average-fast, mainly because it is a scythe should not be heavy, as you can see...scythes arent meant for big musclar people to weild..it'd have to be quick and nimble....i have a feeling spear...have a slow refire rate, but fast airborne speed...think of a real spear...take quite so strength to chuck it...but since it straight on..it'd be quite fast

Twicky... is there something you're not telling us?
Scythes I can see having a fair attack speed - 1.5 seconds perhaps, putting it right between the warrior einhanders and hammers. This would probably be supplemented by fairly heavy damage, but I expect a wide strike range, given that it takes a fair amount of skill to keep a scythe pointing the right way - perhaps (6~12) to (26~32)
As for the spears, we do not know their attack mechanic yet, so we can only speculate for now. Realisticly, they cannot be made more powerful than bows, for the sake of balance, but the point is still valid that a single spear would outdamage an arrow if thrown well. Attack speed is another question that remains unanswered, although if spears are melee, I think, again, 1.5 to 1.75 is reasonable - they will likely be heavy hitting einhanders with a middle attack rate, (at least, thats what I'd like
) Although having said that, from what is already known of the two classes, the paragon is not primarily a damaging class, so perhaps the damage of the spears will be lower than expected - after all, nobody expected 7-17 for daggers and yet, it made a surprising amount of sense.
And that means there is something else we have to bear in mind - we can speculate damage and speed all we like, but both are dependant mainly on the profession's skills.
