Ya, Guild Wars Prophecies is way better for people just starting. The game is more for begginers and it gives you a LOT more time to learn how to play before you get to the hard misisons. Factions is more for people that have already played because it gets hard at the third or fourth mission. Not only that, but you basically have to buy the max armor by the fourth misison if you want to live for more than the first 10 seconds of every fight, which for can be really expensive if you just started (who am I kidding, sometimes I don't have enough money for the full set, which you will need, and I'm not new. ).

If I were you, I would get prophecies first, and then later get factions and merge that with your prophecies account.

Welcome to Guild Wars.

BTw Prophecies is the first one, the orginal, they renamed it after Factions cam out. And, yes the learning curve isnt as steep and their is more/better PvE content in Tyria(Prophecies land). You should invest in Factions aswell, but i think you should get to grips with the first one first.

welcome.

chapter one for the best start as well as having skills that are only available to get in chapter 1 as well.

chapter 3 Nightfall will be released in about 3 months and you might wish to skip from chapter 1 straight to chapter 3 depending on how it turns out.

you can buy factions later if you want as well.

/agreed

Prophecies is what you want. Mainly cause you get a lot of free skills, which you'd have to buy in Factions.

Factions

Gets you to level 20 quickly then far more post lvl 20 content.

Allows you to choose skills you want and give you far more money / skill points rewards compared to compensate for not spoonfeeding you the skills via quests that chpater 1 did. Aka go the route you want to go.

Alliance battles are a fun non "elitist" pvp mode.

I have prophecies, and although the game is amazing you level up kinda slow, how much faster is it in factions? Also can u still do things like farming etc.

PS: if i buy factions and install it, can i play it under my same account that i use for prophecies?

Prophesies if you enjoy a game that will last longer than a couple of weeks before getting old.

Prophecies was a great game. Factions was severely lacking and I would say I regret buying it.

Guild Wars Prophecies (1) for sure. More content, more gameplay, more fun!

u get to choose ill tell u the differences:

Proph: Longer, just missing the assassin and ritualist, tons of skills and more fun gameplay

factions: shorter, rewards when u beat it, u have all the prof, skills (no proph ones) and les fun gameplay...

Just get both.

What's $90, when it comes to fun? Factions is shorter, but also much more challenging.

Prophecies is prettier and an excellent starting point.

Prophesies, definitely. Much richer gaming experience. Others have given the main reasons, and I would agree. Factions is a good game, but it has expansion written all over it, and probably should have been priced a little bit less. Not sorry I bought either one, and will likely buy Nightfall upon release.
