prophecies char in Cantha

I have a prophecies character and I want to unlock the map in Cantha, but I can't seem to do quests or anything at all. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

You can't get to Cantha? Just talk to the skills guy in Lions Arch and do his quest. Once in Cantha, you talk to the people with green "!" to get quests, just like in Prophecies.

You're sure you've not gone to the Temple of Balthazar in the Isles of Conflict? That's a shared area, where there is nothing but PvP - no quests or anything.

Uh, by the way... you have Factions, right? If you haven't bought it, you can't play it...

I should have explained more thouroughly, sorry about that.

I have a prophecies monk and I want it to unlock the entire canthan map, and I'm already in Kaineng city. I backtracked to the monastery, yet I cant seem to do any quests anywhere except in Kaineng.

Prophecies characters have no quests on Shing Jea Island except for The Bog Beast of Bokku. You can do that one if you want but then move on to the mainland for your quests.

Well I went to the mainland, and usually characters progress through the story starting in the marketplace when they get to the mainland, but I can't take any quests thefre. I was just confused because I'm not sure if you have to run to locations or play through the story.

In Factions you have to play through the storyline. Primary Quests and Missions are the only way to progress.

It's the same if travel either way, Canthan characters can't pick up any quests before Lions Arch, Tyrian characters don't get quests on Shing Jea.
