Heightened state of mind.

P/W

I just wanted to appologize for glinting off a comment like "who asked for Dervish and Paragon" or something like that. After actually playing them I see that they cover alot of suggestions and interests asked for in the suggestion forums, even my own......

I just thought I would point them out. People asked for a shape shifting class, and though I hope this isn't the last one ever, the Dervish can turn into avatars of the gods, thats pretty wicked. I personally asked for a war priest or something that helps the party with battle songs and such, as well as my recent Templar Idea which I didn't get around to elaborating on before Paragon came out, very simular. I also mentioned that there should be a melee class who has even better opportunities to survive than the monk, and Dervish seems to have some extreme survival capabilities.

I have also seen some interest in a spear throwing class, another class that uses adrenaline, and some Commander ideas for a battle leader.

I guess they get double points for making some original identities wile covering alot of interests in these 2 new proffessions, I only hope they are as fun to play when they come out as they are now, and dear god, improve Assasssin, he will need to do alot more hit and running with dervishs whirling around like that.

Yes, they are new. Very cool.

Look at all the new mechanics, new types of skills.
Lots of things are changing.

Lots of condition abilities.

More speed buffs in these two character classes than all other characters combined?

Things are definitely on the move!

-- And all of it will make sense, much more so, once we see what the PvE is going to be like, and just what kind of new things we're going to see in our current character lines. Don't forget items! We're probably going to see some new kinds of mods. Lower condition times? Etc.

Yes, yes, I agree with both posters above. It really does seem like either they took some hints from the community, or had very similar ideas (likely both), and the implementation of said ideas seems to be pretty good. I also like the exoticity of the professions (better to have the spear-slinging commander and scythe wielding holy warrior than, say, a tried-and-true shapeshifting druid who casts whirlwinds, as many people have requested).

Although I do have some reservations about the idea of combining a commanding role and a skirmishing role in one character. Commanders (at least in the mediterranean war tradition) are meant to evaluate a situation, lead and direct, being a solid fountain of inspiration to his men; skirmishers are meant to hit and run troops meant to divert, divide and disperse the enemy. But I guess anet kind of tried to subvert that role by giving them strong armor, so it makes sense to play them stationary, in the middle of battle.

I mean. I like em.

1. I am a huge fan of all the new things. (wow the possiblities with paragon are staggering... dervish is more rythmic and easy for me to figure out)

2. Anyone ever play Gladius?? I wouldnt say the classes are THAT original.

In gladius (gamecube- strategy game of greco-roman style that is played like FFT) you can get Dervishes in chapter 3. Granted, they have 2 daggers as weapons.. however their ABILITIES are Earth & Wind... Im not going to compare it more than that... because they are quite different games altogether... and the Paragons look (Obvious reasons) like the spear chuckers of gladius... down to the way they stand.

I love GW.. and this nightfall preview has made me very excited... just pointing out similarities Ive noticed. (gladius also has a main character named Ludo.... for what thats worth)

well they have this desert background to them... and there's not much in the desert other than earth and wind
