buying GW

was wondering if guildwars: factions is an expansion pack, people told me that, and i dont want to buy it if i have to have another GW before it. if it is an expansion pack, what comes before it thanks!

It is not an expansion, it is chapter 2 but it is stand alone. I would recommend getting GW 1 though it's much more interesting and will keep you busy longer. It goes like this Guild Wars: Prophecies = 1st Campaign. Guild Wars: Factions = 2nd Campaign

considering that Nightfall (chapter 3) will be out in about 3 months you might want to buy chapter 1 and skip to chapter 3 directly depending on your tastes in style of play.

So if you buy factions only do you not get the option to do the prophecies campaign?

No, you won't have that option. You'll have to buy Prophecies to do the Prophecies campaign. Although Factions is the newer chapter, Prophecies is a much better place for people new to GW to start out. Factions is OK, but not nearly as well done as the original, IMHO.

Each chapter can work as a stand-alone game; Or you can link them on the same account. If you link them, you'll have 6 characters with access to the content of both chapters, if you don't you'll have 4 character slots for eeach, but they won't be able to go to both places.

I had a small question I wanted to know. I can not find Guild Wars: Prophecies in any stores that I know of. I know it is the first campaign and all but all I can find is Guild Wars: Factions. Anyone know any stores where I can get the first one?

Prophecies is much better in my opinion for someone starting the game
