racism double folds

I don't know if it's just me but since this Nightfall Event more racist names appear more. Such as the racial slurr for blacks, "RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO,niga" etc people finding ways to go against the name system. Why do people do this, shits and giggles cause it's just immaturity and just grow up. Plus some reply with "cause im black you fool", than I say why degrade yourself even more. Than some are wiggers or white people acting black,just wow. I mean this is just sad, and I PM each one "how old are you and they say 11-30 years of age. Than I reply with screenshot and sent to a.net, gg.

How about you don't report them, and just let them do what they want? I doubt that it is ruining your gameplay experience, so just let it be. It is their personal opinions anyways.

Do I think it is increasing? No. Unfortunately there are always ignorant people and children whose parents don't teach them properly.

Um...If I were black it would CERTAINLY ruin my gameplay experience if I have to coexist with idiots that have nothing better to do than throw obvious slurs at my heritage...

This has always been a problem in Great Temple and Zaishen Challenge (Great Temple is home to all the lowest and low lifeforms in this game...All Wanting to Cyber, All Pedophiles, All Racists, All the worst) but the fact that Elonian characters are all dark skinned has only promoted their immaturity.

I've gone through racism, not because I'm black, because I'm german and don't live in that country anymore. Turns out, all the country I was living in knew about germany was.. WWII.

Did it offend me? Sure. Did I do something about it? Yeah, I got used to it and actually learned about my heritage.

These days, and especially in a game, I have no problem with what people call their characters, I DONT have to play with them, or even look at their name after all. And hey, if the whole 'black' thing REALLY offends you, reporting should help.

btw, the name thing isn't so much different than the warrior grinding behind the female characters, both are offensive to someone.. and yet.. we make a big fuss when a black person gets offended.

There is nothing wrong with reporting names that are offensive and don't belong in the game.

It is satisfying to check the next day and see the "no such player exists" message.

Wow, people just can't get over the fact that other people have skin that looks different from theirs. It's simple evolution and adaptation. People living in areas with more sun exposure (i.e. a desert) for millenia, will develop darker skin. And the just the oposite will happen when hidden from the sun most of the time (i.e. further north and a forest).

People can be so ignorant. All humans have been traced to have originated from Africa. So people are just being complete fools when they're racist.

I was taught in school about african, chinese, native amerian, and of course european culture. I don't see any reason that any race should be singled out.

I guess it's just human nature that anything that looks or acts differently MUST be bad. I mean, come on, they aren't like anyone else, so something MUST make them bad. And it sure is easy to think that way, espesially when everyone else around you is doing it.

So yea, people that just can't accept others for being different (in a good way), are just not fit for society.

thats one of my reasons for staying away from the pvp areas. Last time I was there at the isle of the nameless... lots of people were name calling in very uncalled for ways. It could have something to do with the fact that it was also during a preview event and lots of ppl were logged in for free for the weekend.

because of that it would be hard to ban those who were just on to play the weekend only.

I hate people who can't accept people because of the colour of their skin. Or find it entertaining to use skin colour to insult others.

my personal opinion of you would get me banned so i will only say if somebody has a name obviously made to be offensive i will happily submit it for Anet to ban or not.

just because you will put up with/approve of anything does not mean others are not willing to report the obvious i am being offensive because i think i can get away with it

it may not ruin my gameplay but you should have at least a small amount of consideration of others

I originally made this thread to open up those eyes who can't understand racial names offends those in game and in real life. That it's immature and you need to grow up. Racism needs to die and not be uplifted through more generations. To those saying "it's just a game, let me have my fun", it's not a game when you offend those it goes against. You put it on yourself when you make the name, but why? It's not humorous but just truely offensive, to any race, to any slurr, that name will offend someone in each district.

I think theres a lot of racism in this game. Not just in pve.

ending racism totally by inhibition is not the best way, imo. how about being open about the slurs and conditioning ourselves so that the words won't mean anything in the long run?

say generations from now a white guy will just laugh when he's called a cracker or a pig or a KKK or say a German will just take it as a light joke if someone calls him a Nazi.

yea, an idealistic approach. but possible to do. blame the human mind/nature for making it difficult.

I've seen the names the OP mentions, and I honestly wish there was something more than a simple report that could be done. Actually, I'd like to speak to each one of these fools personally and chew them out- but that would only give them the attention they want.

I always report undecent names, racist or sexual explicit.

I haven't been looking, but I recall several borderline racist comments about the Elonian character options that were temporarily available, so I am not surprised.

I don't recall whether I saw them on Guru or GWO.
