We all know the surroundings and enviroments are a major factor in bringing people into the game. Currently Guild Wars has some weather effects but they only trigger in certain areas of the map (actually I do not think they trigger, they just constantly run in that area of the game). And the current weather effects are very very lacking. The rain looks very thin (as in not a lot of it) and just does not feel right.
How should they improve the weather effects? I say they make the times it happens random. You could be walking on a path in Kryta and all of a sudden the sky darkens and it begins to rain. The amount of rain could be random. After the rain is done there would be fog all over the place for a certain amount of time to add more effect. The rain would be thick on your screen. Meaning it would not just be a couple of drops but a whole bunch at once! Of course there could be little short rains now and then.
Snow maps: Blizzards! Lots of snow at once! It could make things harder to see!
Desert Maps: Heavy winds picking up the dirt and dust?
Forest areas/grassy: Heavy rain with fog.
Covered areas: No rain of course!
What are some other cool ideas to expand the current weather effects and the ones I just listed?
Improved Weather Effects
Branskins
The Hand Of Death
Day and night.
Fire rains in old ascalon.
Smog in Kainieg (sp)
I would like to see this. With the weather can come field effects:
Fog: 25% chance to miss target
Rain: 10% slowed movement
Smog: -1 health degen, 25% chance to miss target
Blizzard: knockdown if moving for 10 seconds, 25% chance to miss target, 25% slowed movement
Night: 50% chance to miss target
Hot Day: suffer double exhaustion
Environmental effects would also be nice to have, they would act like spirits affecting allies and enemies alike.

you already have some enviro effects, in the form of various rivers that give u a whole +1 regen.
Weather has been suggested alot before, and day / time cycles, especially when we found out about Nightfall's name.
Personally I dont see the point, I play CoH and certain enemies come out at night more etc and its ok since their cycles are fast. but you could end up with real-time cycles, and boss xxxx with uber-leet spell XXXXX only come sout on Tuesdays for Brunch :S
although if weather and stuff is done correctly, i especially like the effects on say accurace that fog/mist would have, then //signed

I'd already be pleased with day and night only
Mars Dragonblade
Occasional lightning storms on the horizon or just thunder before it rains would look good
