Your characters will NOT be deleted when you add that 2006 key to your account.
Furthermore you will get no more slots (atleast if you allready have factions and prophecies)
You DO get the items though

I added the key to my account, you get the Warning Screen that says basically you are wasting the account, because all you get is the items (not another access to chapter 1, no more slots, nothing).

If thats appealing to you like it was to me..no Problems.

I have 2 full accounts (prophecies + factions) and one of them has this 2006 edition. If i remember it correctly you get an EXTRA key for the bonus items...

So you can create a new account (4 prophecies slots) using the 2006 key and then use the EXTRA bonus-items key on your old account.

Most of the items are not very useful... i think only the Nevermore bow and the Rhino hammer are useful.

The Nevermore bow has a poisionous bowstring which cannot be changed, but you can add a bowgrip to it. I sometimes use it in AvA battles...

The Rhino hammer is a sundering hammer. For a long time it was a 10/10 hammer (while 20/20 was already in the game for a loooong time). One of the latest updates seem to have to changed it from 10/10 to 20/20, which is nice

Yes, you can just add it to an existing account, but think about it before you do it, $50 or w/e for just those items? Hmm...

GODh is right, depending on WHERE you buy the game.

The ones sold in most Euro venders give a seperate key, which makes my post misleading since the items are on a seperate key, but some, like American versions, only come with 1 key.

If you do pick up the 2006 edition with 2 keys then you can save the chapter 1 access key to make another acconut or something, but if you pick up a box that says "Game of the Year" on it - you'll only get 1 key.

Probably at any retailer that sells Guild Wars. In Holland I just go to the Toy Store in town and there they are, plenty of them. Almost bought them, but when I got home the news of the possibility of purchasable char slots suddenly hit the forums, so I decided to wait. Now I found out that I can't even get one unless I get a creditcard, but I'm keeping high hopes that this will be resolved soon enough.
