Think: Another pvp beta?

Ok Anet screwed up, they introduced a professional that surpasses other professions in every aspect. If you don't know what I mean by this, 8 D/Mo tank better, deal damage better, and heal better than a balanced team before this weekend.

The weekend started with D/A. Yeah this was easily corrected because it was more of a glitch than anything.

The weekend then continued to the D/Mo. A very complicated concept and would be difficult to promply balance without breaking the dervish class.

This entire weekend was all about D/A and D/Mo. Its clear to everyone they are gonna do something about the D/Mo but whats next? They didn't nerf the D/Mo for the metagame to move on and create the next overpowered dervish build. That and every decent player was playing dervish and not even looking for overpowered paragon combos.

I wouldn't put it past Anet to make a few balances and have another pvp weekend, they couldn't have possibly gotten enough info from this weekend because everything that was getting used by the metagame was completely overpowered. They didn't nerf enough to see how many overpowered builds we could come up with.

D/Mo and D/A aren't THAT great. My warrior could take their hits when they were alone. I really doubt that Dervishes will make better tanks.. the only thing that needs to be nerfed is the CoP build.

But if you are going to call out Dervish then you need to call out Paragons as well. They were even more powerful in the right hands. Too bad they got overshadowed.

I think Arena Net has enough information for now. I'd like to test PvE next. Maybe they can do PvE and PvP together.

I asume that during the PvE weekend, you can just make them as a PvP char again? Didnt check that last weekend.

Didn't they do a 2 pvp weekends and a preview weekend for Factions? Methinks they'll do the same for Nightfall.

They did no such thing. They allowed their entire playerbase to test the profession and find bugs/imbalances/broken skill combinations. You can repeat the above if the current incarnation of the Dervish makes it to release.

anet will balence the dervish for the PvE event i am sure of it.
and please don't call for a nerf on cop, i don't want one of my fav monks(and one of the most usefull) being nerfed again.

nerfing cop wont help dervish have their own skills that remove all enchants it is just cop is better for the anti hex/cond they just need to tone down mysticism

Thanks to all the complaints about this one, it is likely that the two new classes are already predestined to be totally useless by the time the game comes out.

Another PVP beta would simply give cause for another round of the same complaints, which would change the Derv and Paragon destinies from "totally useless" to "abysmally totally useless".

What needs to happen is everyone needs to get over "The Nerf Mentality".

Nah i farmed 600 fame that weekend and unlocked both dervish and paragon with D/Mo build in tombs. It is unbalanced trust me. With imbue health on 5 guys and 2 spirit bonds and 1 prot spirit its GG. And just take one guy with OoA and other spammable whole team enchaments to get a good heal party + energy.

Crap. I just realized I probably can't log in with my PvP chars from this weekend.

Many of them still have Zaishen Medallions, so I can't delete those slots without losing stuff. Pleh.

The only reason they seem so overpowered, is because we haven't had any time to figure out how to counter it besides nerfing it. Just like we've all found ways around IWAY and bspike, we all can and will find a way around the CoP build.

I wouldnt mind all the abuse of exploits in the new characters if ladder/titles and other pvp rewards ( besides the medals ) were frozen during the beta, some guilds that werent even in the ladder went up to 200 higher.
All I'm saying if they had frozen the pvp rewards this weekend, we would have a lot less complaints flaming these foruns.

No actually I played the wonderfully overpowered D/Mo all weekend, I made about 80k in medals. Hell my dervish could solo, yes solo let alone with another good one in the group, most RA teams. Between balt avatar and mirage cloak your a better tank than any war. Between super AE damage and AE scythe attacks your as good a damage dealer as any. Between mysticism, mystic healing, sig piety, etc, you are arguable a better healer than a monk.

So... For all you godly Dervishes posting out there... What happened when you ran into an enemy Dervish?

They will let both teams have one, right?

Well if you run into another dervish one of three things happened.

1. The other one sucks and you eat him, the assassin, and the 2 warriors attacking you all at the same time while maintaining full health.
2. Its an even dps match and one with help just barely wins.
3. Both sit there spamming at each other all while outhealing each other for 30 minutes.

It won't happen. They both will be balanced and tested out in a beta pve event which then will eather show how good they can be or bad. Then when the games come out they will be rebalanced and then after its out rebalanced again. But i think both classes can be great, its all about getting the right setup with them. Only time will tell. We will have to wait about a month if i rememeber right, mabey longer.

Haha Natus I like your concept more, that is definately more accurate than mine. Pve event won't be any indication of pvp balance, they are so far different that is just completely wrong to say.

Lets just say this. At leasy we are dealing with 2 powerful classes and how to make it more balanced than a crappy assassin again
