I'm trying to sell my mini Shiro and I keep getting these people trying to scam me. Its not much of a scam I have to say. Not even a monkey would fall for that. Its a lame scam that is wasting my time when trying to sell stuff. I decided to make a thread after the 10th person just tried it on me.

Anyone else getting the idiots wasting their time?

This is really old...Its most popular in ToA with Ectos.

See the 504656773523423 people spamming "WTB ECTO 7k" - Some of them spam that all day and just put up 7gp and hope for the best. The next day the same people spam "WTS ECTO 7k" and sell off all the ectos they scammed the day before.

Remember when Reporting YOu'll need:
1) Screenshots
2) The District/Town it happened in
3) The TIME it happened
4) The person's name
5) The person's Momma's Maiden Name
6) What school the person goes too
7) Etc...etc..You get the point.

The last few are jokes of course...but you can't just give them a screenshot and the guys name. They'll reply back to you and ask for Every Detail of the situation (District, Time, Names, and "any other relevent info") and if you don't reply in a certain number of hours your ticket is considered resolved and they forget about it.

It's stupid to try something like that, and morally wrong, but if you accept "100g" it's your own fault.

I hate this especially when it's a stupid attempt such as when you say something like - (Insert new green here) only 300k!! Ectos and shards + money. You then get noobs trying to give you 300g, when 300k isn't even possible.

Just ignore thise stupid noobs and let them enjoy their noobness.

How many of those scammers who try to sell their ectos that they bought for 7g, for 7k, get scammed themselves, and end up selling it for 7g, do you think?

those guys are just a waste of time. im trying to sell something going around different districts trying to sell my stuff and some guy starts talking about the price and when we finally come to an agreement to what i thought was a serious buyer and then i find out he just wasted about 5 minutes of my time when he puts in "g" instead of "k." its really frustrating dealing with these guys.

Items shouldn't be sold for gold only. When a weapon cost less than 1K, it should be salvaged, or given away to some newbie.
Take away the gold input, and Anet solves a whole lot scam opportunities.

The problem is a scamming attempt. These annoying idiots waste people's time even attempts fails. There is so many with different names, it is impossible to know who is trying to scam. Ignore list holds only 10 players.

Its the scammers fault because they tried to fool the seller, duh. Unless the seller is a 100% perfect and alert person you can't say its their own fault. The seller might be considered careless but that's as far as it goes.

The seller is acting in good faith. The scammer is acting in bad faith. That's all one needs to know to determine who's at fault.

You know don't start trash talking that person until you make sure they ARE trying to scam you... I once put up 3 g instead of 3k for a shard by ACCIDENT... didn't go over so well but the guy believed it was an accident and I of course paid 3k for it like I intended and went on my way.

Its not so much the scamming as it is the wasting of time.

I had some guy today say he would buy my item and he traded and then backed up out of range to cancel trade about 10 times and then i just went to another district. then he continues whispering me say "why did you leave nub" and spamming me till i ignored him.

for those trying to figure out who's fault, i would like to quote a well known maxim: "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

I, for one, have done something like that on accident. Honestly, a genuine mistake made from really not paying a whole lot of attention. Probably bad on my part, but that's what happens when you have ADD.

I was supposed to pay someone 50k once, and accidently tried to offer 50g. He pointed it out, and I fixed it an apologized but if there's anybody else out there stupid like me, it's possible. I'm not saying people don't scam - I know they do. And more often than not, it's a scam and not someone's ADD. But it does happen, unfortunately I'm proof.

yeah, but i've had plenty of scammers say 'oops ADD' and then just cancel and move on, ADD shouldn't be viewed as a handicap but as an alternative way of thinking (i also have it)

as for the 100g vs 100k, yesterday i was trying to sell kuunavang in droks and kaineng. and no less than 7 times i had people try to offer 100g, and each and everytime i whispered them 'nice try, thanks for wasting my time'

You'd think they'd have more entertaining ways of wasting their lives. I guess some people have never heard of drugs or real-life crime. Or ESPN.

^^ Oooh, ooh!
ESPN for me!

What Anet needs to add is right before you accept something, your screen should turn a shade of gray and says in TEXT, something like "You are about to trade a Totem Axe for 5k. Do you accept this trade?"

Problem solved. If you still get scammed, you need to learn how to read. Or better yet un-install GW and give me your account.
