Direct Song help!

I decided to try out the Guild Wars Direct Song stuff so I downloaded the Battle Pack 1, The Special Edition Pack, and Sorrows Furnace. How do I put them so they play during the game?

All you need to do is install them. Guild Wars looks for the DirectSong dll and will play the DirectSong music if it's available. Some of the songs will only play in certain maps. For instance, you obviously have to go to Sorrow's Furnace to hear that particular music pack play. The Battle Pack is played during PvP battles I believe - not really sure which ones. Not sure about the other one you mentioned.

You can tell if DirectSong is working correctly by looking at the Sound Options dialog. There should be an icon that tells you when DirectSong is playing music.

Make sure you install them in the correct order.
For just those 3, install BattlePack I last.

I'm curious, why do you recommend this?

They're all supposed to use the same .dll and .ds file. If not, it's a bug and someone should let the DirectSong folks know about it.

It is a bug.. and I don't see it getting fixed.

Unless you manually update the GuildWars.ds (the one that controls what plays where from there ftp site), always install the "latest" pack you have in the series.

I Re-loaded my pc / GW and installed DirectSong (I have ALL of them less the orginal GW "Special Edition" one). There was a bug about Factions Sound track not playing.. they fixed it latter. During the install.. I installed in random order. Sorrow's Furnace I think was the last one I installed. It "re-introduced" that bug about GW Factions.

In a nutshell older DirectSong music pack currently don't push the most current GuildWars.ds que/track list.

One of the problems with the early DirectSong packs was playing the same 3-4 songs ... over and over again which was updated / fixed with a newer Guildwars.ds (aka change what plays where).
