the preorder setup looks cool and the pics of the world look awesome and detailed, but if they dont fix how overpowered the dervish are then im not gonna even bother getting the game

The funny part is that Gaile jumped in and raised all this doubt that the storyline revolved around an "outcast god" as stated by EBgames.... and said that companies make stuff up, and how it was all untrue...

well whaddya know, looks like EBgames didn't make it up after all.

hmm I find it unlikely that they're gonna leave em overpowered in the final release, but keep in mind that, whether you buy it or not, you're going to have to deal with other people using Dervish and Paragon classes.

I tend to buy from Fry's, so I just take in my receipt for the preorder, grab the one I want (ce or normal) and head for the cashier. I find it interesting that they changed the language from 'pre-order' to 'prerelease'. Is that all this is, a change in language, or will they be charging for this 'prerelease' package?

The Nightfall preorder weapons sure look nice, and seem to have a use. With a nice enchanting mod on that beautiful scythe I'm definitely going to be using it a lot.

From the screenshots so far, I'm also loving the art overall of Nightfall. The statues at the docks look beautiful. I'm hoping that every chapter isn't required to have a nasty destroyed area like Cantha had Kaineng City and Tyria had post-sear Ascalon. :/

That's a good observation, eh! You're probably right. Since it will include an extra slot it would make sense that they wouldn't be just giving it to us for free.

Well how usual preorders work is that you pay $10 or so for them, they usually come with bonus material, and then when you buy the real game when it comes out, you subtract the price you paid for the preorder from the price of the game. The pre items on Guild Wars are weapons that each one of your characters gets a copy of, and if they ever throw it away, they can get a copy back by typing "/preorder"

Now then, though, as Denny Pace pointed out, this "prerelease" may not be like a regular preorder. If that's the case you would pay whatever the price of the prerelease is, and you'd also pay full price of the game when it comes out.

i would like to think that this is just a preorder kit. that way i can walk into my local eb and just preorder the game and get this incredible collection of goodies. i hope that my local eb has a few copies of the ce available for preorder. i'm still waiting on my factions display stand. they keep stalling and stalling. but i will get it. so i dont know how reliable this eb is. but either way nightfall looks beautiful. i cant wait.

omfg i kinda got it. its a way for anet to give younger players to buy new char slots without needing a credit card. every intelligent kid will just buy x of those packages and get x new char slots without using his parents credit card. its like the wow gamecard in stores. i feel really bad about where guild wars is going.

It could be a change in language, but there is no mention of pre-order in the press release and they call it a retail package, but there is no announcement on price. I don't beleive the Factions pre-order pack had a set price, and stores were supposed to give you a copy it you pre-ordered.

So this may be a separate pack - an extra purchasable slot with bonus goodies. Anet may also be leaving it up to some stores to offer discounts on the game for people who buy this.

I remember reading an interview where they said they split into two groups so they can release chapters faster. hope its true! Hope its, one chapter in December and one in April or june.

I think buying two wouldn't benifit you at all. This is a prerelease key, so if you input a prerelease key it will turn a switch on in your account that says you get the bonuses from the prerelease. If you enter in a second prerelease key it will just check to make sure the bonuses are turned on. It's like a door, either it's open or closed; once it's open it can't be opened further.

NO

this is pre release and will give you access to any special pre release events but does not affect the release date which will be late oct/early nov

Kaineng City was just really crappily constructed. Also full of monsters and designed by someone with a twisted sense of humor...

preorder boxes are free when you preorder... and after reading this: id have to agree about the "total" of 3 character slots if you get the Pre- and then GWN... at least i hope

this is a nice tip of the hat to anyone who is stressed about $10 a hit. Personally, I have 7/7 which means +3 will let me finally have one primary of each class :P

Im guessing that the pre-order items will also be max dmg just like the GWF (as opposed to the original preorder items... which are -almost- max lol), so you can bet that I will no doubt be using that spear on my Para... and the scythe looks too good to pass up (eh you can change its prefix anyways-)

Im going to wait to preorder until the CE becomes available- which will hopefully be orderable on Sept 15 as well.

I hope i get a new login screen soon... :P

why complaint that character slots are $10 per?
in a way you already paid $10 per already when you bought GWF and added it's key to GWP
expansions usually cost $30
All GW games cost $50 if the store follows the MSRP
if this is your 1st GW game account you paid for a full game but if you add it to an existing game , you bought it @ an expansion price +2 character slots priced at $10 per
just be glad that you aren't forced to buy additional GW games.

I think the reasoning for this being a "pre-release" package is so that certain stores can do this package but every store can allow pre-orders (remember the Factions pre-order and that some retailers weren't doing the preorder items/access)...

Be nice for ANet to say who is selling the bonus package so people can pick the right retailers

i dont think you want to just get it from the store, even if they do offer it...

youd get the items, slots, and music... but youd miss out on the rest of the package...

ANet does a good job with promotions- and im sure having a physical copy of the preorder will be well worth a trip to the store

If you're thinking about buying one additional character slot, then you'd be foolish, IMO, to purchase one now, given that this bonus pack will give you an additional one for the same cost, PLUS you get all of the perks that come along with it.
