Best Type of Armor for an All-around Necromancer?

I was about to graduate my necromancer to his 15k armor, but then I thought, what should I get? I need a set of armor that is good for all-around use in both PVE and PVP. I already have a special scar for death magic and special bloodstained boots for being an MM, but I need a core armor set which can be versatile?

Any ideas or suggestions as to what I should get?
Also, comments about which runes I should put and where would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The +energy set (scar patterns) are probably your best bet. Unless you plan on getting up close and personal, you'll be better of with energy rather than AL.

Minion Master's armor is a good idea too (if you have Factions) but if you change your build alot, scar patterns are the most useful.

Energy+ Chest, Legs and Arms + Bloostained Boots is my armour of choice, you'll have enough energy to run a SS build, and the boots are a must-have if you're MM'ing

Thanks! Do you guys run any runes on your armor pieces regularly? or just once superior on the headpiece?

Just one superior rune will be fine; 2 superiors will most likely be more dangerous than beneficial.

Besides, wether you're a Minion Master or a Spiteful Spirit-necro (or something else), you're gonna be specialising in one attribute (Curses, Death Magic or Blood Magic). Unless your build depends on having high marks in two of those attributes, or you feel you need alot of energy from Soul Reaping, having more than one superior will but a strain on your monks and won't help you much.

And let's face it; you're a Necromancer. You're one of the primary targets of your enemies. Unless you're a Meleemancer, you're not gonna be in the front lines, and if you ARE a Meleemancer, your low armor is a big problem and having -150 hp isn't gonna help you.

Believe me, unless your build depends on it, or you're a 55-necro, stick to a single superior rune and a Vigor rune (perhaps some minor runes if you think you need it).

And you're welcome

Tormentor's is the best set, hands down, in any environment without smiting. If you see holy damage being broken out, just have a set to quick-swap to.

Energy is an ok set for minions in PvE, since your energy tends to fluctuate wildly and the extra room can help a good amount. I don't like it for general usage though.

If you can maintain 10 minions reliably, the 'MM armor' from Factions is nice. It has better armor than Necrotic/Tormentors and no smiting penalty, however it has only 60 armor during startup, which is tough.

Necrotic/Tormentors is another good choice, barring smiting opponents.

All energy with BS boots. Superior runes on the headgear always. Vigor on chest piece (just preference) and minor or major SR (no reason to run a sup soul reaping)

Yea, on my other characters, I usually run one major rune, a couple minors, a vigor, and a superior on the headpiece

revenant ftw on the mm thing, imo the mm armor aint very appealing, on the other hand revenant allows me to use superior death and major or superior soul reaping while negating some of the health penalty

if you like to play MM go with MM armor or tormentors i guess (MMs use soul reaping for their energy, thats enought to keep you always full and with 10 minions)
all other builds do fine with +energy

i wouldnt mix them up, i like to have my MM armor set and my non MM set, not a mix of both =/

and i wouldnt recomend +health armor at all unless you got some crazy idea with grenths or something

The point of running double sups on a MM is to lower your maximum health, not the additional +2 attributes. Why work against yourself?

If you are going for MM, you might as well use 2 Superior Runes, or even 3. Since Blood of the Master sacrifice health anyway, so any amount of health doesn't matter. You should be behind your minions anyway and no MM is complete without Taste of Death and some sort of corpse consuming spell for a quick health boost.
Dark Bond also works here.
