GW need to create donwload patches
sigried
i have been playing GW for long time now i have no prblem with my internet conection but i do know a few people that still use the dialup conection.
Can ANET imagine downloading 30 MB ona 56K. i takes long hours to do so.
so why dont GW develops a patch so that if we format the PC we dont have to download the hole thing again it will help anet alot to do this cuz they will have less lagg free servers.

This is one of the selling points of GW. Always updated no patches to download ever.

it will be cool if they just make it download everything before you enter game!
its annoying when u gonna go to arena and it starts downloading...

and adding -image works if you are downloading the whole game...just not if you are downloading parts of it

take your dvd burner and burn a copy of your dat file everytime you have a big download.
reformat? simply copy the dat onto your GW folder

Do you mean something akin to slipstreaming an OS? So you could go into the options menu and click 'slipstream GW', which effectively burns a copy of GW with all the updates on the disc. Considering the client can be downloaded for free and it's really the keys we pay for, I think it's a great idea. I don't know if it's in any kind of demand, and you could probably do it yourself by copying and burning the gw.DAT file (although I've never tried), but still a good idea.

Hate to say this, but the days of games supporting or even caring much about the 56K dial-up user are coming to an end. Things are/will be designed with broadband in mind. It won't be long (if not already) before a high speed connection is a requirement of games.

i have made that copin the dat file and it does not work for me man.
i think you need to create a regestry thing in it.

one common glitch is they dont remove the check from the *read only* box

This isn't like a regular online game where there is constant patches to download. Like Battlefield, Starcraft and other games. Also there isn't alot of updates to download only when a special event or skills change is needed than you'll be prompt to download the new patch.

Those folks still on 56k really need to upgrade, I have done fresh installation on 56k and it took more than 6 hours for the online updates. Next time I will use an external hard disk drive or a writable DVD, I still like the no-hassle of online updates.
