N/P twist on regular MM
JoeKnowMo
An interesting idea might be an MM with a Paragon secondary.
Death Magic: 12 + 1 + 3
Soul Reaping: 8 + 1
Command: 10
Leadership: 0
Animate Flesh Golem {E}
Animate Bone Fiend
Verata's Sacrifice
Blood of the Master
Leader's Comfort
Rez Sig
Your choice of 2 of the following:
Fall Back - For 4-10 seconds, all allies within earshot gain 5-15 Health per second while moving and move 25% faster. "Fall back!" ends on an ally affected by this Shout when that ally successfully hits with an attack.
Go for the eyes - For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot makes an attack, that attack has an additional 25-75% chance to be a critical hit.
Never surrender - For 10 seconds, all allies within earshot and below 50% Health, gain +1-8 Health regeneration.
Stand your ground - For 10-35 seconds, all allies within earshot receive +24 armor when not moving.
Leader's Comfort - You gain 15-75 Health. For each nearby ally, you also gain +10-20 Health (maximum 140 Health).
Minions doing critical hits, especially your Golem, due to Go For The Eyes will take down foes much faster. Minions gaining health while moving from Fall Back will reduce the healing burden on MMs when moving from one mob to another. Never Surrender can help minions low on health while Verata's Sacrifice is recharging. Stand your ground will help the minions tank better.
Leader's Comfort, since it's based on the Paragon primary attribute will only heal for 15 health if you're alone. However, with 7 others in your party and your minions, you should almost always get 100 + health from it.

Minions aren't affected by "ally" skills, are they?
floppinghog
spirits work on minions.
Zinger314
Minions are affected by "allies."
This is an interesting take on the MM.

it will be interesting to see how this plays out, youd think Anthem of Flame (if thats the right name...?) would be fun.
If it worked all your minions would do burning
You would think Anet would make this work, just for the coolness factor alone... if it doesnt work, its probably because it would be too powerful... Im sure someone in the company at some point said: "hey i have an idea... necro/para with minion shouting" to which someone either replied "yes" or "no"

You guys sure you can Shout Up your Minions? I mean it will be cool but- for some reason- it just doesn't seem like something ANet will allow. The regen/healing shouts would be cool. The extra armor stuff, too.

And noone has mentioned Leader's Pride yet?
Or how with BotM using Echos on Pets is feasible?
Shame.

Greetings,
When I saw the title of this thread, the first thing I thought of was, of course, my own minion master necro. I thought about the fact that I don't use any skills from my secondary when running minions. That's mainly because I don't really have time to do so, what with constantly raising minions to replace the lost ones and so on. This idea would be a fresh change up to the build. I look forward to playing with it.
And, to the OP: you might want to finalize a build along these lines and submit it to the builds directory for the necros. I haven't stopped by there lately, but I don't think this would have been posted yet. You have my applause for figuring out the skill synergies involved in this type of build.
Merry meet, merry met, merry meet again,

My Sweet Revenga
Heh my necro got put on the backburner for the longest time. First char played in prophecies. Last char played in factions. I just started gettin the hang of being a n/mo mm and found it pretty easy to plow through pve while maintaining 10 minions at all times. If it is true that paragon shouts work on minions, wow this could change everything I've come to learn about being a mm.
I wonder which would be more effective at keeping minions alive longer though.... veratas sac + botm + 2 heal areas, or veratas + botm + paragon shouts. At the least, the paragon shouts will make the minions hit a lot harder.

I really wanted to try this too. Thanks OP for making more people at least "try" it. I've been thinking about it a lot, and I really dont think its going to be as efficiant as a N/Mo at MM.
Hella Good
Well, it will add a fresh twist to MMs, if minions are really affected by Shouts but nothing about MM will truly change- MM will still be the easiest way to beat the game. I love how easy it is to roll through PvE with a Necro.

Banishing Strike > all summoned
unholy guardian
sounds like a cool concept to me
Trylo
pshh... banishing strike will only be used in AB if anything...
Nice ideas, i might think about changed from wells/interupts/battery for this new idea... plus i need the paragon skill

thanks! I tried asking about this in-game alot last weekend, but no one knew for sure.
--------
also-
I really want to try this, but half of my characters have been necro in some way...
Tho, paragon may be the New necro for me... theres so many different kinds of good skills... like the ritualist... there so many good things to use with it as your secondary.
Personally, Im going to look forward to Warding Paragons (e/p, p/e), and also if people start playing monks giving shout outs in addition to their heals.

Without disparaging this build (Good theory work, BTW!) I feel it's necessary to point out 2 things. 1) "Go For the Eyes!" works off adrenaline, which would require a MM to be closer to the battle than they are generally comfortable being, and 2) These skills will be available in Nightfall, which will have Dervish monsters which will be more effective against multiple melee targets. Since you can't direct minions against several different targets, they are always balled up, and my guess is the Dervish will slice through them like butter.
Now in 12v12 or taking you N/P back to Ascalon, this will rock!
Glasswalker
Damn. I really didn't mean to kill this thread -- I was enjoying the discussion...

I think the range of the shouts will have an effect on this build.
"Within earshot" range has not yet been finalised. Whereas BotM will heal minions regardless of position, any shouts will be modified by range. This means you may have to get closer to the action.

dark bond ftw?
Hella Good
Yea, lotsa Smiting is likely in Nightfall. But you can always keep a front line and a back line. Minions + Fiends always worked well for me when there were things upfront I needed blocked so that the Fiends can pump up damage from the backlines. Reminds me to point out, I miss Mark of Pain... Those were the days...
antoninus
interesting concept. i especially like "Fall Back" for when moving your army in between mobs.
tho it will all look pretty wierd, shouting at undead creatures you summon and telling them to "Fall Back!" when you just killed a group of enemy >_<

Guardian of the Light
Ya N/P would be cool.
However MM < Dervish with their sythes.

Retribution X
This will be a cool build. I'll have to try it.

hope they dont nerf this. it can really work well with MMs
