Was looking around and noticed the Prima guides website has this listed:

The release date for the Guide is October 3rd, the guides always come out on release or a week or two after so could this be the release date?
Just thought i would point it out as it's something to think about.

It would make more sense for them to sell the guide before the release. Doesn't do much good to come out after the players can go to fansites and get up to date info for free.

i would think it would be nearer the begining of october.
There is bound to be another halloween event this year, and there wont be much point releasing a new game and then a special event whilst people are still trying to get the hang of the new game at the same time.
So the game comes out earlier then 6 months, swiftly followed by a special halloween event a week or to later which tempts a few more people to buy the game.

Just like before, no release date is a release date, until Anet releases the official release date. Any speculation of release dates is just speculation at this point.

For what its worth, My local EB said it was the 26th of October.

what we all must remember is that the release date and the date that the game hits shelves is not always going to be the same. if i remember right, factions hit shelves a few days after its release date so i wouldn't bother to get any hopes up as far as a set release date goes.
