Oni Farming Build?

Well, having spent the last week or so trying to find a build to kill these damn things, this is the best Ive come up with, and it still doesnt work. I was hopeing you lot could make some improvments to it so it does work (maybe).

Skills
Cyclone Axe
Riposte
Healing Signet
Enfeebling Blood
Spiteful Spirit
Shield Stance
Protector's Defense
Bonnetti's Defense

Equipment
A +5 Energy Axe (I use totem axe)
Preferably the collector carpace shield (+45 HP, -2 DMG Stance)

Full Gladiators Armor (you need lots of energy)

Attributes
Curses - 12
Tactics - 16 (12 +1 +3)

Method
This is done at Zos Shivros Channel, simply because it is the only place i know that offers an easy to get to Oni spawn. The spawn is just south of where Sskai spawns, between the two stretches of beach.

Run around and get the Oni to spawn, either 3 or 4 will spawn, let them cast Shadow Shroud on you (has no effect) and cast Shield Stance as they enclose around you, just before they start attacking. Quickly use Enfeeble and Spitful Spirit on one of them, and use healing signet to ehal yourself, at this point you will take hardly any damage. Keep attacking the oni with your axe to gain adrenaline, and once Shield Stance begins to fade, get ready to use Bonnetti's Defense (if you dont think you'll have enough adrenaline, use Cyclone axe).

As soon as shield stance fades, use Bonnetti's Defense and wait for your energy to fill, use Enfeeble once again and just as it is about to cast, use Protector's Stance because Bonnetti's will be removed. With Protector's stance up, use SS again and heal yourself. The Oni you used SS on should drop soon, and this is where i get stuck.

Once that Oni drops, there is no longer any damage output from SS and you are left with no stances to keep you alive, you will die. You can try switching to a sword and using riposte, which might down another one, but you will still probably die.

Anyway, this is where i leave it up to you guys, im off on holiday for a week tomorrow and when i get back I hope to see some inspired Oni Farming Builds .

Well, the second time you use SS you do NOT cast it on the same Oni as you started with.

Also, I must suggest that you use Gladiator's Defence. SS only triggers on attack; not hits. Gladiator's Defence triggers every time an opponent hits, so you can take full advantage of that monster skill (don't remember the name) that Oni use that makes them double strike on every hit. That's double Gladi Def damage every time they attack you AND it'll protect you.

I don't have a computer with GW at the moment, so I'll leave timing up to you. But with an extra stance, surely you'll be able to survive.

Also, you're using Curses. How about using Reckless Haste in between using Gladi Def? It hits target foe and all adjacent foes so that's easily all your Oni AND it makes them miss giving you some extra defence.
Mark of Pain scatters your enemies, but that's defence too; you could try it out but I'm not sure how well it works. Just make sure you use it in between Gladi Def's.

You could also consider using Insidious Parasite. It's extra defence in that it reduces Oni attack damage by 17 and deals 17 damage each time they hit, again taking advantage of double strikes. This can be used together with Gladi Def but it's a little energy heavy.

Those are my suggestion off the top of my head. Try them out and let me know if it works.

You can't use an Axe and Riposte.

Sentinel's Armor
Zealous Sword
-2 Stance, -3 Hexed Shield

13 Tactics (10 + 3)
11 Sword (10 + 1)
15 Strength (11 + 4)

Glads Defense
Shield Stance
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Sever
Standing Slash
Dolyak
Healing Sig

Easy as pie.

As for my build, I believe it was something like:

Prot Spirit
Spirit Bond
Spiteful Spirit [E]
Blessed Signet
Holy Veil
Essence Bond
Balthazar's Spirit
Blessed Aura

Attributes were Max Curses, ~9 Prot prayers, ~9 DF (before runes; I used both a superior protection and a superior divine favor).

Holy Veil is the key, and not for removal of Shadow Shroud: it makes it so Shadow Shroud takes twice as long to cast (2 seconds), which is an ample window to recast SB and PS. Typically, as soon as a Shadow Shroud starts to wear off, I start smashing the button for Spirit Bond. I have never used Holy Veil to remove Shadow Shroud; it will simply screw up the rest of the fight, as trying to cast SB and PS through a one second window while facing possible KDs is quite dangerous.

About 10% of the time, you will be KD'd during the two second window you have, but you can usually fire off at least SB. PS should last long enough for you to skip one recast anyway.

Also, as a side note, while 15 AL armor is recommended, I've tried it with 60 AL armor, and the Oni still seem to do enough damage to trigger SB.

As another side note, I also used to farm Oni with an N/Me before I decided to give a Spirit Bond monk a try. This build is far less stressful to run than the N/Me build I came up with, and it is also faster.

Yeah, I just remembered that; double strikes aren't two hits in one attack, it's two seperate attacks. But I still think Glad's Defence is key here.

True, for onis however I'd also remove all sword attribute as well, and go w/me for physical resistance and one(or both) of the visages depending on how many you wanna corrale at once. Visages will reduce/eliminate shadow shroud, knockdowns, interrupts and attack chains.

SS works really well on onis, I can vouch for this Especially when you get a few of em, and more than one SS...its literally a thing of beauty.

Hello!

Try this build it works great for me..

Glads E
Shield bash
On your knees
Deadly ripost
Ripost
Doylak
Healing Sig
Balthasar Spirit

14 Tactics
14 Strength
6 Smits

When you see that Glads is ending put the shield bash on and the onis will fall som of em , then hit the On your knees. You will have glads on and put it again.
So soon you have ripost on and Deadly Ripost put em on and heal as much you can.
Dont heal without Glads on (Try) or you will loose alot of health.
I have a shield with 60 hp when hexed and a sword with 10% andrenalin.
They die easy in couple minutes.
Hoppe this help you guys

i spent a couple days putting a build together for these guys a couple weeks ago

Hammer, tactics, strength are all you need

Counter Blow
"On Your Knees!"
Renewing Smash
Gladiators Defense [E]
"Watch Yourself!"
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet
Sprint

its a bit tricky to get the timing right sometimes, but just keep the glads up 99% of the time, and heal yourself almost constantly (but make sure you get your adrenaline up) and you should be fine.

edit--I find that a great spot to do this is right inside of Rhea's Crater, enter from near leviathan pits, and they spawn just up the hill and to the right, if you die you can sprint back up before they heal more than halfway. And you can just re-enter when you are done
