Hey guys,

I've put together a little map zoomer widget for the Tyria map posted by TC Fish. When you load it you'll have to wait for 2.5 mb large map to be loaded in the back-ground. Just wait till the Ascalon city area is shown zoomed-in.

Lemme know what you think. I've not had time to put in many shortcuts and it doesn't yet work in FireFox. If anyone wants to update it with a full list of cities links can you send me the co-ords or the updated code.

Cheers

I don't want to be an ass but do you use non-standard code or something because it works only with IE?

If you read the title of the thread you will see it says IE only.
I will take a look at this when I get home from work. Thanks Ascii.

Hey guys,

I know I'm lazy but I just threw this together and got it working. I thought I'd put the idea out there and see if anyone liked it before putting any more into it.

The code's pretty basic and you're all welcome to do anything to it you like.
Just trying to give something back

I like the idea, and I can definitely see myself using it more often if more features are implemented. You can now detect scrollwheel movements using javascript, see if you can use that to zoom in/out, or change the opacity ratios.

OK, I've made some headway in getting it to work in FireFox by cleaning up some of my Javascript. However it's still a long way off. Can someone else pick this up for me and get it going in FF?

I'll try and look at it a little more later but for now I've gotta do some real work.

I think it would be better if the window that it magnifies it in was not transparent. I dunno if you could do that, but it would be alot easier to see the magnified map.

OK, Small update for you guys.

* Due to popular demand () you can now change the window transparency from 20% to 80% using the mousewheel.
* I've redone the images so they're cleaner but slightly larger file sizes
* Added in some more quick links to cities.

EDIT: added in a full 100% opacity setting

Right, last update before the weekend.

I've had an especially dull Friday afternoon here at the office so I flicked through the map and added shortcuts to all the places I could find. I'm sure there's a bunch that aren't shown on the map so any further help with those'd be good.

This should now be of some use helping you find places as well as a funky little widgeetty thing.

Enjoy!

Hey guys,

For anyone still interested, I've re-done the zoomer to show the zoomed map as big as the small map. Me and a buddy were trying to use it over the weekend to find a path from one place to another and realised that the little window was just too small.

Here's the new version: http://novelid.co.uk/MapZoomer2/Zoomer2.htm

Still to come:
* Fix the city shortcuts
* Add in region shortcuts

I like the old one better.
But i agree that the window needs to be bigger, not by much mind.
