No, if you die you lose the chance to earn the title. Check here for more info on titles.

once you die, you lose the possibilty to earn the tittle, but, deaths occurred due to the death of an npc during a mission (togo, mhenlo, Danika) will not count towards the death count, thats it, if they dont kill you before they kill the npc.

my lvl 18 Tyrian mesmer is almost at lvl 1 of the suvivor track, she really kicks but!

there is no way to get the Survivor title if you have died unless you die after Rank 1 Survivor in which you will retain the title

I'm pretty sure that you can die but you just have to gain 140,000 xp without dieing. So you would need to progress virtually 20 lvls to gain title
