Ultimate Assasin?

Iv'e been playing quite awhile now with my sin and I like this class cause of the playing style. Now the thing is that I havnt really used so many skills (just the standard ones + refuge) and ive manage to stay alive in every mission and havnt heard any complains on me.

But now I want to specialize myself much more and the desired thing for me is to know the true art about shadowstepping (cause that is like what an assasin is really)

For now i'm running A/mo (with rebirth as last slot for putting pressure away from monks for resurrecting)

So any of you exp Assasin could lend some secrets about the arts of shadow then feel free to tell me.

Everything from good builds for confuseing mobs to spike alone targets and then just disappear would be most welcome.

You just want PvE builds?

I hate PvE with my Sin... can never get groups.

Why do everyone hate Sin's in pve? and if EVERYONE does, then why dont Anet do something about it?

Doesnt Anet listen to the ppl who plays there game? we should make a statement or send a letter or something. (Assasin's need a buff NOW!!)

And I do mostly pve, so thats why I only need those builds.

Why do Assassin's need a Buff? What part of the assassin are you proposing? A skill buff? armour? You can't just start spouting off about a Class needing a buff without making a case for it and saying exactly what it is you think needs changing. As far as PvE goes, the are alot of us who have made it through PvE just fine, using henchies, pugs, and guildie groups, maybe you need to revisit your playing style or change up your build a bit if you are having that many issues.

You misunderstood, im not having those prob and dont really understand which part of Sin who needs buff. Just that everywhere on this forum ive seen (mostly) ppl talking about sins who needs buff to be playable. (better self heal + shorter recharge on shadow stepping and so on..)

But the main thing ive need is a good dmg dealing and shadow stepping build. Who can get in, do dmg and get out to recharge then step in again

OK got ya, alot og guys like Shadow of Haste for and "in and out" skill, and it is good, takes getting use to so practice. The other mainstay for shadowstepping is the elite Aura Of Displacment 1 skill for in and out.
Just check around lots of PvE builds in here.

Shizuka, get the Elite Aura of Displacement probably the first thing to try. Urkal the Ambusher has it. Just go out of House Zu Heltzer into Ferndale, go to the left, kill much mantises, go cautiously up the stairs. Urkal is usually straight ahead. If you go to the right just after the top of the stairs, you will find a little bridge. Cautiously pull and kill as many Dredge as you can. This should leave Urkal alone to get from the other direction.

Then there is my one note song for PvE with henchies. Get yourself a longbow if you do not have one. A longbow that requires no marksmanship attribute will hit for maybe 8-11 max. But it is a wonderful tool to begin combats and stay at max range until the henchies have aggroed and you can pick your target. And, if you are lazy, in most cases you can just stay at range plinking with tiny plinks from you little bow, and the henchies will take down the whole group for you! Can't beat that!

Player groups is another problem. To finish the game, I henched some missions and a lot of quests. Critical Barrage Archer is a fun thing to try later on. Often you can get into a PUG as a CBA when you cannot otherwise.

The assassin does have a PR problem with general PUGs, no doubt of it.

Dont you guys just hate that? I mean first of all 12yearolds should be playing Nintendo or some serious sam (piece of **** game), and the second of all, IF you want to tank and only like to have to press 2 buttoms just do Warrior. Run into all mobs and do nothing.. (maybe cast glad def sometime) but just because ure BRAINS doesnt run on any higher freq just stay there. Dont try to play Assassin, cause Assassin needs ALOT of timing and planning.

Im sorry it looks like im complaining about you, but I get so damn tired of this. Dont you agree?

And thx for the advice, but im only in Senji's corner right now (so I use DC) but I will try AoD later.

Hehe us assassins will always have bad PR. theres always some moron whos first char was a tank who tries the same 2 button combo with a sin. My advice for pve, tune your build. Once your really confident in it and have worked out the worst kinks look for a group. if you cant find one your not at a loss hench it. Ive henched the later missions and quests pretty easily, the only problem is if you screw up its more then likely game over.

The best assassin skill in the game is imo Aura of displacement. It's the only skill that really makes you 'an assassin' you pick a target and cast Aod, pull off your combo(mine is jagged strike --> fox fangs --> death blossom-) AND AS SOON AS YOU'RE UNDER ATTACK cancel Aod to shadow step back to safety, dont pull off your combo then cancel it straight away, there's no point in doing that. Also use shadow refuge or heart of shadow to take some pressure off the healers.Right now my sin is one of my favourites in pvE.

What I do is I never attack the called target because he almost always die before I can finish my combo! Instead I go for another caster (Rit or monk preferably) and pull off my combo.

Hmmm....

I use the poor man's AoD, Return.

Zeroxy is correct, pick off targets that are not called targets. I use Retribution, because I don't have mending, . I have +15% damage when enchanted weapons. I also use skills that give bonuses when I'm enchanted, so I don't run out of energy either. I use Healing Breeze instead of Refuge.

Poor man's AoD? Return is pro! (Consider the DPS gain you'll get from offensive elites, yowch!)

I'm a palmstrike goon if you can't tell, and brevity is something I eat, sleep and drink. That's a good thing; assassins jump in and jump out. Don't try to be special and be a tank. It takes a full skill bar of defensive crap to take the place of a warrior in sentinel's armor; you're being inefficient. Regardless, being an assassin does require some spoiler knowledge. (Like in real life.) I don't believe there is a min-max build that covers ever situation. Just evaluate your next mission/quest and build around it. For instance, you want to kill stuff in Nahpui quarter. Consider these factors:

1. Warriors use balanced stance, so you won't be running expensive combos on them due to a lack of energy gain. (No crits, yo!)
2. Rangers have a defensive stance. The chances of your combo being snapped is very likely. Once again, poor energy gain from crits is possible.
3. Ritualists fulfill both a healing and damage role.
4. Notable lack of conditions.

Looking at the current setup, you have to find a way around the low energy potential. Running expensive 25-30 energy combos might not be in your best interest. Of course, you'll be cleaning up the casters, but then you'll be half-useless against the other two sorts of mobs. Assuming you're a A/W, would wild-blow be a worth investment? Remember, it isn't a one man show. Removing stances from enemies is beneficial to the team. (Excellent for masters, mind you. Those stances take a chunk out of the mission time, good grief.)

Bottom line: There are stable templates, but if you want to min-max, just spoil the surprise and look up your potential enemies, then work around it.

I switch between Recall and Return to save myself from the enemy.

Go to Tyria when you can. PUGs there love Assassins. Enemies are not as strong in Kryta, you can kill quickly, and no death novas.

I have been in numerous groups and I have yet to encounter a group that didn't like Assassins. There are still a lot of noobs to the game, so they are in awe of the power of the Assassin.

I was in a group of 6 in the mission before Sanctum Cay. We were going to do bonus and mission (kill towers), then our only monk left (disconnected I think). So we were 2 warriors, ranger, elementalist and me (A/Mo), and then the warriors both hit -60% DP, then quit. I never died once, Ranger and Ele died I think only once or twice. We didn't complete bonus, but beat the mission with only 3 people, no healers.

People love assassins in Tyria. So have faith that love will come back into Canthas.

Exposed defences and Wild Strike are a warriors worst nightmare.

cast EXPOSED DEFENCES on a Warr(their stances dont matter as you have 5 seconds of them not being able to block or evade your attacks) Then your lead i use Jagged for the degen+Wild(removes their stance ie Balanced)+Horns of the Ox(knockdown)+Falling Spider after it all BIG damage with sundering mod and degen death=dead warior in about 5-8 seconds

ok, assasin in group PvE should be back line defenders. If something heads for the monk or a caster, kill it fast. Rinse and repeat.

If you really want to try your luck with shadow stepping charge in tactics. I either use deaths charge/palm strike and atk skills/return combo. Or atk skills/shadow form/return/dash combo.

I don't find that many problems getting into groups no a days. My A/Mo is now in HzH and last night I capped AoD. I don't use mending or VS. I use:

Golden Lotus Strike
Fox Fangs
Twisted Fangs
Disrupting Stab
Shadow of Refuge
Retribution
Return/Recall/(now AoD (e))
Rebirth

This is currently my setup for PvE. It works great so far. I cast Retribution for my enchantment and recall on a monk. Go in attack and remove recall so I can get healed or at least stay out of harms way.

I've done the teleport in, combo, teleport out, but that is just a bit too much energy for my liking.

The only thing I don't like about being a hit and run assassin in PvE with henchies is that they change to my target. I get within agro range, call the target and they charge the warrior for example. I switch targets to the monk or other squishy and go after them. Next thing I know, talon and the rest have abandoned the called target and attacking mine.
