Why can't I upgrade my bow?

ok so I recently purchased a poison recurve bow so that I could switch my other comp bow out for a crippling bow when I'm running cripshot in gvg.

I buy the cripple mod, apply it to my comp bow, and now I have a Comp bow of fortitude with no mod, not even the old poison mod that was once on it. Thinking this was maybe just a one time bug and since crip mods are cheap as dirt I buy another one from someone in Kaineng, do it again...and the same results, I'm simply left with a Comp bow of fortitude with zero string mod. WTF Anet...you owe me 1k!!

Uhh, that's weird and I can't help much, except to say not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Salvage that perf. fortitude mod, sell it for 20-40k, and buy whatever bow you want

What the heck is up with that statement, that's the second time I've heard it today.

MAybe it really did update and just not show it? Have you tested it to see if the cripple is extended? Could just be a bug on the display.

not look a gift horse in the mouth

If someone tells you not to look a gift horse in the mouth, they mean that you should not criticize or feel doubt about something good that has been offered to you. Okay, it's not the job of your dreams but it pays good money. I'd be inclined not to look a gift horse in the mouth if I were you.

look a gift horse in the mouth
To criticize or refuse to take something that has been offered to you. I know the car's not in great condition, but you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Didn't someone else post on here yesterday with the same thing happening with a crip string on an eternal bow?

why would I salvage a perfect gold bow 15>50, req 8 +30hp for a fort mod to buy another bow?

I don't want another bow, I just want my crip upgrade to stick to my bow when I put it on, and I tested in the Isle, my crip lasts 7 seconds as opposed to the 10 it would last with the mod so it's not a display error.

this is frustrating.

The whole "looking a horse in the mouth" thing is an archaic way of judging the age of the beast. If the teeth are worn, rotten, or the gums receeded, etc. then it was an indication that the animal was old or ill. Thus, if someone gives you a present, just accept it gladly and don't make a scene of potential dissatisfaction.

um... from what I can tell, looks like you have 2 composite bows, maybe you applied it to the wrong one? Since I can't mouse over the middle bow on the second line, I can't see the mod on it...
what's that green stuff?

Green stuff is Jade Brotherhood capes. They are a quest item.

the middle one is drago's flatbow and hence impossible to mod. It definately didn't stick, I spoke with a friend of mine from vibe and he said the same thing happened to him only the crip mod was already on and it just disappeared the other day for no reason.

Bug... I guess I will keep that Cripple String on Standby then. Doesn't matter if its customised or not you can freely change mods on bows that aren't green.

Well, It's been dissapearing off of some bows that already exist. and it also should work with replacing on a customized bows.

ya as stated above customization only effect who can use the bow, it has no influence on the modification of bows. There is no 'logical' explaination for this other than the fact that it is a bug, and it needs to be fixed.
