Help others with the Weekend Event

I hear a lot of complaints about the weekend event and my only advice is:

STOP WHINING!

And do something about it. When you go into the elite mission with an experienced group, try to bring along a few players who aren't familiar with the elites. Sure, it may take a little longer, but it will help prevent those people from wasting their time and getting angry. Accept even just 1 inexperienced player each time and teach him/her how to do the mission. All of a sudden, they start to learn how to beat it and they start teaching others.

Call me soft, flame me, do whatever you want- but if you follow my advice, the inexperienced players you take will learn quickly and there will be much less aggrivation for both the good and the bad players. I have proof of this from working in a PuG party- there were only 3 people who were good at the mission and they let me and 8 others who had never done the mission before into their group. They didn't mind- it took another 20 minutes to set everyone's skills, but we beat Urgoz without too much difficulty on the first try. Now all members of that party know how to beat the mission, what skills to take, and what to do (and not do *cough*runahead*cough*).

Inexperienced != Unskilled

I often find the latter.

Now that's a proactive, positive way to better the GW player base as a whole.

Inexperienced, or unwilling to learn? My first time in the deep was as a monk. I just went with my group healed, and we did fine, until we had a bunch of err=7s.. people yelling over ts and stuff.
However, my experience of taking inexperienced players is that they think they can just charge, even when we direct them. The guild wars "beginners" populace is largely ignorant and unwilling to change (example: a trapper in fort aspenwood [don't ask] was told to come fight at the green gate, instead of trapping, then called a noob for not "fighting")

To the OP: Probably the best post I've ever read on Guru. Thank you for restoring my faith in at least ONE member of the community.

Want > Generosity. People would rather have an Urgoz Flatbow then help a newb out. Thats whats wrong with the community.

Yeah, but also...
If I help someone out, what keeps him from running off with the knowledge I gave him? People getting rich off my back. I'm tired of that.

All they have to do is go to a fansite, and they'll find all the info and more you would of gave them, so it really doesnt matter. Its a game, who cares if they get virtually rich because you helped them. You never know, if you help someone nice they could give you something for the help. What goes around, comes around my friend.

Where did you get your knowledge from? Sure you might have figured some stuff out yourself, but I bet bottom dollar the majority of you knowledge came either directly or indirectly from other's previous experience. You can either be stuck up and mooch off others, or share your knowledge which will then encourage them to do the same.

I have always appreciated when people share their knowledge and I really look up to them when they do. It really encourages me to do the same, so in turn I try to help out others in search of knowldge.

A fool thinks he is serving himself by taking without giving. A wiser person knows that giving to others is giving to themself, even if they don't see the direct consequence of such.

Not with the community, more like humanity.

Agreed. I used to be a big Halo 2 fan, but the GW community is leaps and bounds more generous, mature, and respectful than what I encountered there. As much as I loved Halo 2, the online experience I encountered really turned me away. However the ability to play GW online without interacting with other people at times is a nice way to take a break from humanity also, lol.
