One technique to prevent Err 7

When Guild Wars freezes, this technique should prevent you from disconnecting and losing your party and reconnect you to the game with only about 4-6 seconds of lag. Before this, it would err 7.

Two ways to do this are:

NOTE: For those with one monitor, the following may be easiest:

If you're plagued by constant err 7 every hour, run GW windowed so that the task menu is showing. During the game when Guild Wars freezes, be calm and right click the Local Area Connection Icon in the tray and select "Repair". After the repair routine is complete, close the menu and in about 1 second it will Lag spike and you'll be back in game.

If you have 2 monitors, this way is pretty easy to do:

On the system tray, right click the Local Area Connection icon. Select "Status" so now the Local Area Connection Status menu is open.

Select the "Support" tab.

Keep this open while GW is running. Leave it open on the second monitor for easy access without minimizing the GW window. Then when the game freezes, immediatly right click the icon and select "Repair". It should reconnect every time. Click "Repair" as soon as possible when guild wars freezes and it will reconnect you to the game.

EDIT: If your system tray doesn't have the Local Area Connection Icon, you'll need to configure your internet connection to show this. This is done by going to the Control Panel, select Network Connections. Right Click the active connection. Select Properties, and check the box next to "Show icon in notification area when connected". Then Ok.

What if you have no lagspikes at all, and then err7? That's what happens a lot

the err7 you speak of is your own internet connection laggging out.
the more common one is a sudden disconnect...no time to repair

A lot of the time with err7, it's NOT your own internet connection. I always have teamspeak on whilst in GW and 9 out of 10 times teamspeak stays connected and everyone is still chatting when you have a err7, so the net connection is obviously still working fine; despite GW claiming you should check your internet connection.

One thing that i've learned, mcafee privacy service does not like GW. Disable it before you play or you'll get err7s all over the place.
