I think it would be nice to add the option to change the armor type of an existing armor. This is going to be extremely helpful esp. with costly armor sets like Fissure and 15K. Much like the customize option that weaponsmiths have, armor crafters should have a change armor type option. This should be only available with crafters that have a particular style, rather than a lot of different styles- like the Canthan and Fissure crafters. Since the looks technically do not change, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to change the mods on the armor.
This will solve 2 problems: no1) the need for a new set with the better mods, no 2) clatter in the stash. New armor types are often times more attractive than old ones and crafting a new set just to get the new armor types can be very costly (think Fissure) and shouldn't be required. Also how many of you have at least a few different pairs of gloves or boots or whatever? It would be much easier to just hop to a crafter and have the type changed, instead of keeping 3-4 of each, so that you can change around as required. A lot of people buy a new armor when they get a new chapter. By chapter 6, my inventory will be cluttered with different armors each with a few alternative glove/boots combos.
So then, can we please get an armor TYPE change option in Nightfall?
Armor TYPEs change option in Nightfall?

There has to be some risks when buying armor..

I REALY dont think the visual style should been changeable, BUT the stats on the armors, like + energy or + health or + defence REALY SHOULD be!!!
I mean, u choose a visual style, u gotta stick to it, but its REALY not nice to have to keep like 3 leggings, 2 gloves, and 3 boots for my warrior (for instance), dont even get me started whith my necro, she got 5 DIFFERNT sets of armors (chest, gloves, leggings, shoes)...
Also, i think this upgrade should ONLY affect Nightfall armors, since the cantha and tyria crafters are already stabilished and shouldnt be messed whith.
Later.

It should need alot of Materials - such as a ranger wanting to make his druid armour have the scale armour mod - They need 50 or something scales for it..

Surely, I'm not suggesting to make it cheap to do. There should be a fee. Obviously the costlier the armor, the higher the fee, but it should be a cheapER alternative to buying a whole new set.

This has been discussed before, please direct your support in the following thread as well:
Essence Armor - Able to change armor stats, runes while in town
The Concept:
- An Armor that is able to change its: Stats, Runes
- While in towns or outposts.
- Total freedom of armor customization in terms of statistics is not achieved right away
- Takes quite a while to achieve full freedom of customization
NOTE: All PvP Armors will have this ability
==========================================
NOTE: Idea has been revised again, but the concept is the same.
- Once again the idea is revised
- Concept remains the same
- Aesthetic aspect has been removed

Proposed method of implementating this idea:
- A series of multi-tiered quest exclusive-only in future chapters
- Would allow our character's Armor to be upgraded
- Armor gain the ability to add in additional stats and runes
- Change into different stats, runes when desired
- Can only change while in towns or outposts
- Reasonable "upgrade fees" required
Proposed Rated of Upgrade Fees
Armor Stats Upgrade:
500 per each armor piece
Runes Upgrade:
Minor - 250
Major - 500
Superior - 1,000
Runes is required for each Rune Upgrade
