Started trying to farm it today cause i like to farm myself my weapons (makes me feel better when i finally get them). I heard that only mighty grwls wielding the Icebreaker would drop it, so I watched the mob be4 aggroing it to see if it was worth it.
However, there was at least one grawl with an Ice breaker but as soon as I aggro him he just SWITCHES to some other hammer. This happened in every run i did and i wasn't able to get an IB yet. Any clues why this is happening?
What's happening to the Icebreaker?

well idk much about the icebreaker but if i would guess i would have to say anet made it a rarer drop, either that or it was a plain and simple glitch, either way it pretty much sucks

I saw the same thing happen. I did two runs on it, saw it and gave up to farm something else. I figure I'll go with one of my staples and either buy one or buy the mods to mimic it on one of my other hammers.

they don't have to be carrying the weapon for it to drop....thats totally a myth....and I've personally seen greens drop without them "holding" it in there hands.

i have done at least 15 runs and never gotten one even though i have seen some holding it when i started fighting them

It took me about 6 runs to get mine. They were never wielding one until the 6th time i saw one with an icebreaker. So i rushed toward him killed him and it dropped. ( no hamer switching observed)
I guess its the same as sometimes dryders wielding chakrams and dropping them when you kill them. I guess its not 100% sure that it will drop if they carry one but most likely.

if they dont carry it they can drop it, i farmed them ages ago, and i dont think the rotscale (dragon) actually wields a rotwing recurve bow in his...euhm..."hands"

When he Switches over, basicly the ice melts, so he has 2 use an alternative hhammer

There was an update quite a while ago which stopped enemies from displaying a weapon if they were going to drop it (mianly greens) in order to stop people avoiding the farm code. Just kill grawls till you get one.

I farmed mine, pre SB nerf, and got it on the 3rd try. Didn't really pay attention to whether they were holding it or not.
