Is it possible to make an effective trapper using just faction skills? This means no dust trap. What should my secondary be?

Thanks I'm sure you could make a decent one, though Dust Trap will certainly be missed. I would suggest the following:
Trapper's Focus {E}
Serpent's Quickness
Barbed Trap
Flame Trap
Viper's Nest
Throw Dirt
Troll Unguent
Res
I'm not sure if Healing Spring is a Fations skill, but it if is, you could likely substitute this for Throw Dirt if you prefered.

It is indeed possible... but Dust Trap is your friend, especially against hard hitting bosses. I'm not entirely sure it'd be worth the effort as a trapper without Dust Trap, its the best protection you have.
Is Oath Shot a core skill too? I dunno where to find a list of them.

Just found a list of skills on wiki.
Oath Shot is indeed a Prophecies only skill. And as i presume Archon didn't realise this when he made that skillbar. So is Serpents Quickness and Healing Spring. So really trapping just isn't viable if you don't have Prophecies as it loses out on its most useful skills.

I have Factions only and the best combo I've been able to come up with is
{E} Spike Trap
Brambles
Vipers Nest
Because you get the knockdown with ST you end up getting bleeding, poison, and crippled in one shot not counting the initial damage from each trap. Which has been good enough to take down up to a group of 8-10, because of the extra little bit of damage that is still needed to complete the kills.
With Factions I have only been able to figure out a max 4 trap combo. But as I found out this weekend in the Urzog's Warren mission 4 traps aren't enough to tame the mobs.... And I sure did die ALOT after setting traps for my group.
But, that is another story for another thread....

If trapping with a firned its a good idea to have one of you quickin zyphr to speed the traps up.
Set loads of traps, lure, and watch them drop...a weapon that has a +engery built in is good...i use Amadis Air Staff which also has the benifit of a massive +60 health

Theres no real reason to bring Brambles. Barbed Trap causes bleeding anyway... unless you know your going to with several people in the team with knockdowns.
