Ok, first of all, I'm not the leader of the guild, second, I was low on money for awhile and 100g started to be quite a lot. Finally, I started thinking, why should we pay to get members into the guild? I mean, whats the point? I wouldnt be worrying about losing 100 gold becuase some guy joined the guild, took one look at, and left. What does everyone think? Pay or no Pay?
They added the pay to invite feature, because people were sick of getting random invites ALL the time. Seriously, if you were ever guildless before this feature was implemented, you'd often log on with 5-6 invites from guilds you never heard of.
People would just sit in town, watch someone walk by without a guild tag, and invite them. They didn't whisper you first, they didn't play with you at all, they did nothing but sit and look for guildless people.
Trust me, the 100g needs to stay.

Guild...like kind of like a business...
Everybody want to own a business and be their own boss, but only a small portion of them can succeed. This is the same as guilds, everybody want to be the leader, the one in control, but you can't!
Organizing a guild takes a lot of gold to do so. First you'll need a guild hall (30k), a cape (2k), a sigil (10k). And the most attracting feature for a guild is TS or Vent server.
Try to consider joining another guild instead of making your own. You'll be leaving others guild too, the same way others leave yours.

And while I agree the 100 gold should stay, it does add up after awhile. At the time I was pretty much the recruiting officer, and so would often run out. One person offered to pay me(when I had 2 asking and less than 200g), so I sold them some dye in exchange for enough cash to invite them. They stuck around quite some time because of that. Paying that 100g is a sign of generosity and kindness. A guarantee that they are going to want invest time, not just money, in playing with you.Though the price could be raised some, that would only have more guilds wanting people to pay them to join. Raising the price would make it harder on smaller guilds, so a price adjustment would be a tricky thing.
