I just talked to Nobleman Kagita; and he said "Salt is getting very expensive now that traders from Elona aren't coming any longer"

I wonder what's going on in Elona?

... Maybe they aren't coming because there's a damn plaugue in Cantha?

Maybe they've discovered fish'n'chips and subsequently have no salt to spare O.o

A conversation is normally a speaking interaction between two people. This is more like an npc telling you the only thing he is programmed to say. Nice try though!

Semantics aside, Markaedw has a point. In prophecies, if you talked to the npc near the docks in LA you learned a little about Cantha, looks like this is Anet's tribute to the new chapter.

People have been finding a bunch of new tidbits about Elona in Tyria that weren't there before. One even mentions Dervishes and Paragons. It seems Anet is getting a nice little bunch of teasers for us. What would be interesting to see is if there are any of these new bits and pieces in Cantha...

Umm... that's not a unique line... it's just indicating that the plague is driving inflation. That line is used almost every single trivial NPC in kaineng city.... try talking to all the peasants.

I believe it is one of the Janthir Tablets somewhere in Kryta. It is kind of like a journal by Witness Casori. It mentions a darkness that came over kryta while the dervishes and paragons were there, and that when the darkness was banished, the dervishes and paragons went with it. There's a thread here somewhere, I'll look for the actual quote.

You mean this thread, and if you read through it you'll see that the OP there posted a tongue-in-cheek story about the Dervishes and Paragons invasion over the PvP weekend, not something he'd actually found in-game.

I think that this is a valid look in to some part of the Nightfall story happenings. After all, northern African trade thrived on the exchange of gold and salt.

some form of salt may be a new Rare crafting material in Nightfall, like Jadeite shards and Amber were in Factions

Hopefully the salt will be like the 'spice' from dune and have mystical properties or mutate us, now that I would pay for.
