Is there any way to hide the skill tool tips?
Zeph
This has been bugging me for a while so I thought maybe one of you brain boxes might know if it's possible to disable them.
I'm referring to the description boxes that popup when you hover the mouse over your skill bar. I understand that they are to help identify the skill and what it does, which is brilliant when using a new build etc, but when you know the build and the skills off by heart then it becomes more of a nusiance than a help. It always gets in the way, especially when trying to monk because of the way I have my party bar.
Here's a screenie incase I'm not making myself clear as to what I mean.
I know you can turn off most things in the UI but I have not been able to find a way of disabling these popup tooltips. Hopefully it's just a case of me being a bit dumb and missing the option for switching these off because they are really starting to bug me and I'll be a happy chappy if I can remove them.
Thanks in advance.

Number keys.
Can't remove them, unless it's a hidden option somewhere ;/

As far as I know, you can't.
This annoys me as well, as I like to constantly hit the space bar when I am attacking even though I don't need to, and I know it's not really doing anything, I just like to do it. So in the early stages it keeps coming up with that message: You only have to hit attack one time, try it and seen blah blah blah. And I'm like damn it I'll hit it if I bloody well want to.
As you get to higher areas though you won't get them anymore.

To kinda get around this, I moved my skill bar above the other middle things. That way the info pop-up doesn't interfere with the info I'm watching...

These can't be disabled via the interface options as far as I can see, I just hoped there was some other way to remove them cause they are annoying as hell.

It was late and I didn't bother looking at the picture. I'll know better next time.
I still don't believe you can disable this either.
I do as the above post said and just position my skill bar where it won't cover anything else up.

That bothers me to no end. I want to put stuff where it works best for me, not where the skill popup dictates. :P

Well hopefully, if enough people have the same problem and post here, Anet might add a option to disable them. I really hope so at least.

To me i say just remember your skill bar and use number keys it makes your reaction faster and the pop up thing won't show

Having the tooltips disabled would be soooo much better, they would not get in the way when I moved my mouse over the skills meaning I could keep my eyes on the action and my fingers on the keyboard. Please please give us this option anet. Pretty please.

Plus while trying to use the number keys I either have to take my fingers off the movement keys (wsad for me) which means standing still each time I do so, or I have to take my hand off my mouse.... neither of which is really what I want to be doing in mid battle.

A nice solution would be a tooltip delay in preferences. Ie, you could set the delay to be zero (as soon as the pointer is over the icon you get the tip) up to two seconds (you need to hold the pointer still over the icon for two seconds to get the tooltip), plus a checkbox for disabling he tooltips.

You can't strafe using the arrow keys, or look behind you, etc. :P

How about mapping the movement keys on the Insert, Home, Page Up, Delete, End, and Page Down keys? For most keyboards I've seen, they're arranged similar to the Q, W, E, A, S, and D keys, respectively. Then map the other commands you use on the keys around there. Like use Down Arrow key to look behind, the keypad for the skill activation, the Backslash key to view threats, etc.
Just an idea.

Your actions anger the gods of gaming... O_O!!! By Zues!!!
My wife used to play with the arrow keys, and she always had such a lack of maneuverability in the game. It was insane. She kept complaining about things that would happen in the game, and I kept telling her she had to switch to the WASD mode, but she kept saying, "No I like it this way, the other way is too hard for me to find the keys."
Finally the only way I could get her to even try it out is to tell her I would no longer group with her unless she at least tried the WASD set up for a week. She tried it and never went back. She was like you are so right I can't even imagine using the arrow keys now.
Using WASD makes albino gorillas smile. Here's the proof!
