I haven't found anything that mentioned the same problem, so forgive me if someone has already posted about it.
Lately I've been having problems with the in game graphics. The textures for characters (PCs, monsters, and NPCs alike) as well as some other pieces of surrounding, don't load. They merely look like coloured blocks. Yet the rest of the terrain will look just peachy.
This only ever really happened before a few times when the game got really bogged down with lag, namely in Factions. Otherwise it's been fine. The graphics have been screwing up like this for the past several days straight now.
I've tried to play with the video options in game. I've tested the video card on my system (which is an Intel 82845G Graphic Controller) and it seems to work fine.
Maybe I need to get a new graphics card? Maybe I need to just get more RAM (512 currently)? Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

YOu need to upgrade your video card. The amount of memory you have isn't enough to run your computer and your graphics at the same time. When something like this happens, I usually suggest getting a graphics card instead of memory because you can safely run XP (if that's the OS) and everything else fine on 512.

I agree. 512 ram is sufficient to run Guild Wars if you've got a decent graphics card. You don't need a high-dollar card, just something mid-range would be fine if you're low on funds.
Gwmaster
go to this website http://www.srtest.com/referrer/srtest and do the test.
select guild wars/guildwars faction and click on can i run it.

Master, that site is REALLY useful!
I think I'm going to end up getting a new video card, and eventually getting more ram by the time Nightfall comes out.
Thank you guys for the help and advice

More RAM without a doubt, you can never have too little.
These days 1GB of RAM is a must have, 2GB is even better if you can afford it.
Always have RAM sticks in pairs for the best performance (2x 512MB for example)

You can go ahead and run the mentioned srtest, but you'll find that the intel card just doesn't have the needed requirements. This is an on-board card that shares memory with the system RAM. For about 50-60 bucks you can get a card that will run circles around that intel, supports pixel 2.0 shaders and renders quite nicely. No doubt the intel card will run gw, but as the game runs for awhile, as the system get's a little warmer and the card can no longer buffer screen commands, it will start to drop detail.
Just a guess (based on the age of the intel card), but your system is likely too old to have dual channel ddr, so if you're going to go ahead an upgrade the RAM, you won't see any performance boosts buying pairs and 1-gig is fine for gw. Sooner or later the system software will require more, but with WINXP you can get away on 512MB-1GB.
All this assumes your on a desktop pc and not a laptop.
