Okay, there has been some back and forth, some say they loved it, some hated it, some felt left out, others said those feeling left out stink at the game etc.. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO... My question is this,

Did you like the event "Elite Weekend Mission" and would like to see more, staged the same and same requirements etc..?

I've done both Urgoz and the Deep previously, the only thing I had trouble with at the beginning of the weekend was those who thought they were "uber" at the missions and the know it alls, when it was their first run down there. Half the time I was in fits of laughter or near tears with the antics and stupidity of some groups I went with. And it also gave me a chance to do the missions with other people, met some awesome guilds who ran with me and it was fun.

Again? Ummm maybe not on such a large scale.

Not really. The weekend is my leisure time and I can't really justify devoting a straight 2-3 hours a session to go completing it. Too much stuff to do. Evenings during the week would be better.

I personally found both elite missions to be very drawn out and boring, as well as the rewards being rather crappy, despite the doubled drop rate. It also seemed very hard to finish the 2+ hour missions without having a key member of your team error out, rage quit or otherwise cause the team to wipe in a blaze of stupidity. And I still spent a ton on keys to get absolutely nothing of value back in return. Oh well, this just reminded me why I stick to pvp and leave the pve farming to others.

If there are other similar events in the future I'm sure I'd give them a try, but I doubt I'd enjoy them if they're anything like this "elite" mission weekend was.

I enjoyed it. They should leave it open to all. It was a fun change.

i think they should leave it open as well.. i didn't have that much time to play it, too much fun enjoying my weekend
all my groups made in the wee hours of the morning were full of angsty teens and inexperienced players

i'd rather they bring back the snowball areana, dragonball arena and other diversionary minigames in future events though!

i seriously don't think the doubled drop rates did much for most players

I really liked it. I've never done these missions before and went to Urgoz at least 4 times over the weekend. Never made it all the way through, but I really liked the challenge.

The only bad thing were other players who rushed forward all the time. Then, in the last game I played, one of our monks decided to rush for a chest. He aggroed a bunch of Thorn Wolves, got his gold drop and left the game. The wolves killed the rest of us off (we'd just cleared the last group and were starting to lay new traps when this guy went for the chest) and we had to go back to the city. That really sucked.

Still, I'm looking forward to doing it again and getting all the way to Urgoz. Best I did was with an alliance group...we made it halfway through the exhaustion/weariness room, so were only 2.5 rooms from Urgoz.

Good times though. It's fun to manage to pull a save out of nowhere when you thought you were going to wipe. If you have 3-5 hours to kill, I highly recommend it.

The waiting to make a PUG you know probably isn't going to make it all the way through was also a bit of a downer, but being such a noob myself at this, it was ok for the weekend event and to try it out for fun.

Those missions should be open full time to everyone, always should have been IMHO.

This weekend the places were full of people who would quit at the first sign of trouble (room 1). The 2 parties I joined this weekend had 4 or 5 people each drop out before we could even get half of room 2 cleared out in Urzog's. I gave it up after that.

I thought it was great. Our Alliance went through a few times. I was a healer on two of the runs. We had a pretty good time, except for the part where we got lost in (Room 5?) of Urgoz for an hour and a half. We kept dying at the point where all the wardens pop up right on top of you. Never quite figured out that section.

Getting a ferry is not generally much of a hardship, and it is easy enough to leave a spare character parked in there. I'd like to see the double rare drops left on though. It makes it more worth while to go.

I thought the event was pretty good in general. But I think limiting entrance to the missions may help keep out the people who have no idea what they were doing. (Honestly, a level 15 wanting to go? Not going to have enough attribute points. )

Loved them.....
Was a good move by Anet to show more players the hardest part of factions to get to.

Should do it more often to encourage people to excel.

Why not have a weekend where you don't need favor to enter UW or FOW and make it free.

This would especially enourage countries which don't get favor regularly to keep trying....

It was decent I suppose..PUGs though..my god..

On Friday and Saturday, the least amount of progress that I got in Urgoz was the flower room. Each time I failed in that room, I kinda felt bad.

Now, on Sunday, 3 or the 4 groups that I joined couldn't make it past the narrow path that you spawn in during Urgoz's Warren. For all three of those times, there was confusion whether it was a trap team or a b/p team and there were no spirits put it prior to trapping.

Necromancers in that mission also don't seem to know what a BiP is, or what an Orders Necro is either. I had many well spammers on my side. It was unbelievable.

Then there were those people who complain about healing when they get hit with the suicide bombers. Of course, having 3-4 monks on the team, it would seem strange, but elementalists aren't designed to stay in front and get hit with vampires.

The Elite weekend was of good intentions, but the lack of smart players ruined it for me.

1st time doing the missions, so I think it was nice that they opened them up. The elite missions are okay, maybe a bit too long and a bit too gimicky. I really don't like the "some of you must die" parts.

Just like everyone else, the PUG's were frustrating. The farthest I was able to get was halfway through either mission in about 8 attempts. Some of the groups were comical- on one group I was in we had a member go afk at the load in room in The deep for like 30 minutes, and then had an ele, who was told multiple times to stand near the gate to the next stage after standing on the platforms, die out of rez range because she was running around by the fire flower when the horde spawned. Of course, the survivors wiped on the next stage. Urgoz wasn't much better- I really think it is impossible to be in a random PUG with a half dozen or so rangers without one (or more) of them doing something stupid. Still, over time, people will probably get the hang of it.

I thought the loot was kinda sucky compared to the frequency of chests & price of keys.

Still, I think it was a good idea to open up the content to everyone.

I liked it. Primarily, because it allowed those alliance members who had been concentrating on one character getting through Factions, to be able to go with us on a different (usually Tyrian) character.

Meant that I didn't always always have to monk....

I would have liked to see the use of henchies, or the ability to have maybe 5 in a room allowing smaller groups to go in and play. The large groups were too closed minded for my tastes. Most argued the entire mission and made it miserable. I won't even get into the fotw build issues.

Good intentions as others have said, but the concept needs tweaking, which was no doubt part of the reason for the weekend. The devs got to see how it worked and what needed attention.

done the deep and urgoz loads of times, the weekend just seemed to be full of shouting and rage and teams wanting certain builds but not overly sure which ones they wanted.

decided to wait til the weekend was over before trying them again when hopefully the novelty wore off, the runs i did do were just too unfriendly, oh and i never once noticed any difference in drop rates

I tried a few missions, but didn't really have much success. The first time I tried, I got into a good group, and really enjoyed them. I had fun, but we all died. Most groups after that sucked and fell apart. I left a character parked in each mission area so I can keep trying them when I feel like it.

Absolutely loved the weekend. I had never done either the Deep or Urgoz's Warren before (mainly because I have a personal problem with being ferried or run to anything), and this allowed me to try both of them.

Kudos to A-Net for allowing us "non-elite" players the chance to experience this!

I'm glad they did it. I think Anet was really nice to open up the Elite missions like that. But I only did it a few times. I'm not the type that sits down to something that will take several hours to play knowing I only have a short time to dedicate to it (unlike some people I teamed up with). I just wish Anet hadn't advertised the "double loot" thing. It set everyone's expecations way too high. I know I'm not the only one who got tired of all the bitching.

I didn't enjoy it, every time I went, players would get golds, purples and greens, everyone in the team got something except me. Well, I got a light blue sheild but that's it.

Only did Urgoz once and got as far as the Thorn Wolves and fire spitting flowers before we got a gold chest. Don't know how close to the end we were but all of the drops up to that point were white.

I don't know what the drops were like before but if that was double the chance of a rare drop, well....twice zero is still zero.

The above sounds greedy - give me, give me, give me. But I actually went with my guild alliance to have fun while doing something different. It was fun because it was different for me and Anet I have to tell you, you have a peculiar since of humer that is refreshing but I'll not be going back simply because of the length of the mission.

It was nice to get to do Urgoz (went twice with PUGs), but those drops....
UGH.
Maybe someone can tell me what the idea was to put a chest at the top of that bridge (lol)....

I wonder, would anone do it if there was no chance of added loot etc? Maybe just a badge or title?

I had a good time, and got good drops too. I guess I'm the only one.

I could only play on sunday, and play I did. First, an aborted guild excursion to Urgoz's Warrens, where we got as far as the rectangular room with the wardens and the immobile bushes. People had to leave because they had RL stuff to attend to, like feeding kids. These missions really take far too much time if you have no mummy to cook your dinner. The game even tells you to take a break while you're IN the frigging mission, imagine that...

With no guildies left online I tried a PUG a bit later, and ended up in a B/P party that despite some glaring displays of incompetence got to the end without a single leaver. I got Urgoz flatbow, and a Zodiac bow from a chest turned out to be 15>50 as well. Good times.

I enjoyed the event. I went on 5 Deep rounds and 1 incomplete Urgoz trip (tried a new 6 man build a guildie read about...). I go to the Deep alot and have always enjoyed it. I liked the event because it helped draw a crowd to make it easier to find groups. I did not mind the noobs nearly as much as the noob hate rants (which this thread continues). Noobs can be taught, noob haters just like to complain which gets everyone in a bad mood.

It was disappointing that in killing kanax 5 times I received no greens (a few times the same guy got 2 of the 3 greens...grrr). I am not sure how Anet determines the green assignments, but I think it overly hates on those that frequent the area. Why should those that enjoy the area be stripped of any chance to receive the greens??? But I got some good mods off some gold drops (+30 health staff wrap, dagger zealous mod, some decent weapons).

As a frequent Deep looter, I can say with certainty more golds dropped from monsters as Anet advertised (probably twice as many). The chests were the same, but I do not think Anet's double drops promise applied to those.

I would like to see more double loot events in the future. I also liked the idea someone above proposed on free entry to FOW and UW weekends (and favor not required).

For those that get screwed by the weekend only concept, why not make them week long events???

One guy, 30-45 minutes into the mission, left to go eat dinner. He was the leader of the group. WTH was he thinking?! Some people...
