Should projectiles be affected by blind?
prism2525
Simple. When using my ele and someone blinds me, i can just continue hitting them with projectiles (fireball, flare) no problem. I think this is a bit odd as you are still sending out a projectile and one would need to 'aim'.
Any opinions?

Well projectiles have an increased chance to miss don't they? Easier kiting perhaps?

I like to believe that the reason magic-based projectiles are aimed so well is that magic directs it toward the foe ^^
This would then explain how these projectiles are unaffected by Blind, but ranger arrows and paragon spears are.
Heck, I can't think of anything else to explain it, but I don't see a reason to prevent magic hitting a foe while blinded, regardless of whether or not it's projectile-based.

Keep it the way it is. Its easy enough to sidestep projectiles already, making blind affect them with overpower the condition and throw alot of projectile/interrupt builds out of the window.
Find more constructive things to argue about, like why the ranger classed monsters chuck arrows out of their mouths at you, or maybe why some of the weapons on the ascalon and white mantle weapon racks aren't usable in the game. (I mean jeez is it really that hard to make a poison ball or thorn? And you can make unique weapon models for an decorative weapon rack in ascalon city but can't come up with a unique model for each green?)
Or maybe we should argue about how suun's character model transforms into a basic NPC after the Nahpui quarter mission... or little thom being dead at pockmark flats and being a regular NPC in piken square during the red cloaked deserter, then magically showing up as a henchie later.
There are alot of fixing issues I would like to see in the game, but I dont see this as being one of them.

So ele's are now vunerable to Dazed AND Blind now? Next you'll be petitioning that Mhenlo won't have the strength to touch himself if he's suffering from Weakness.
The only thing that irritates me is that if you fire an arrow, and become Blinded before it hits... for some reason your arrow misses!

I think magic projectiles should not be affected, they are magic, it works different then something that is shot or thrown.
Now an arrow should be affected, a blind person shooting an arrow has no way of knowing if they are shooting inthe right direction, thus the same should be true in game.

Anet's definition for blindness only applies to attacks. The fact that you can say that it's "magic and doesn't count blindness" is irrelevant. In reality, if you're blind, you couldn't find your target in the first place. Again, this is Anet's definition for blindness^^.

There are other counters to spells, if you add another weakness to projectile spells, than you have to in turn greatly increase their effectiveness or reduce cost, and likely make them faster as well so it is hard to dodge them.
I don't mind this alteration, it would add some more flavor to spell casting, but projectile spells would need to cost less and be able to recast often to compensate for another weakness besides all the casting weaknesses to them, and even then, Fireball wouldn't miss, it hits an area, only single target projectiles should miss if at all.
I say it is a needless interferance, it basicly makes Spells another form of projectile weapon, but if that is the case then maybe they should make the damage +X damage to include the effect of your wand since you are actually using an attack projectile instead of a spell, breaking the distinction between real attack weapons and caster weapons.
It may be interesting to totaly rebalance projectile spells, but it is totaly needless.

Errm, by the way, blind does affect magical projectile attacks, just not the same way it affects attacking classes. It does increase the rate of misses, but only when your target is on the move, so people dont have to kite so much when an ele w/ orb is blind. As for fireball, its and aoe skill, so even if you miss the target, alot of times they are still in its aoe range, so still take damage. just cause it doesnt always miss, doesnt mean its unbalanced, eles and other projectile casters have to have some sort of balance for their low armor class.

Thank god, flare has needed some sort of nerf for a long time.
