Gems in Nightfall?

Seems the scribe has offered this little tidbit regarding that...

We can read into that what we will... but would it be mentioned for no reason, knowing that a great many inquiries about sapphires and rubies have been made?

Lol I can see a repeat of the pre factions price hike. Sapphires and Rubies will go up to 6-8k each. They will then drop to around 1k? again. But who knows maybe this time there will actually be a use for them.

Of course... if they're a fairly common drop there too, that will be hell on prices. heh heh

Yes, you can - they drop from pretty much ANYTHING, just very rarely.

There's an article on Gwiki about the drop frequency of these rares... or maybe it was Ectoplasms... Anyway, drop rate is supposed to increase depending on the level of the monster.

Anything can drop them. The only ruby I've ever gotten I got from a Skeletal Icehand in FOW and the only saphire I've ever gotten I got from an Am Fah outside of Boreas Seabed. =P They're rare but everything has the potential and, as Terra said, the rate is supposed to go up depending on the enemy's level.

I hope we're finally able to use them. Oh, and what about clay bricks? :P

I've got this Sapphire in my storage.
I got it from Level 3 Hulking Stone Elementals.
Right outside Sardelac Sanitarium.

i had a sapphire once... sold it for 15k and bought my mesmer a pimp-coat.

Yes, the ONLY time I have ever seen a saphire drop was when my girlfriend was playing the Aborstone mission, one dropped from a Warden. She always has the luck - she got 2 black dyes before I got one and she very very very rarely plays! I have never seen a ruby drop so they must be really, REALLY rare!!

only ruby i have gotten was from one of those Tree Monsters, in FoW forest

yeah only ruby or saphire i ever got was like the 3rd day i ever played over a year ago in the area outside ascalon city from one of those rock golems lol

Ive gotten one ruby: Fire Imp right outside Lion's Arch and one sapphire: Shadow Warrior in FoW. But, yes, they can drop from ANYTHING.

my guess is that there will be gems and diamonds as rare crafting materials in nightfall

I have noticed in an increased drop rate in these gems, maybe they will really be used in nightfall.

ive got 2 rubies rotting in my storage woops i forgot rubies dont rot dam how am i gonna get rid of them

seems i only get rubys in FOW (found about 3 there) en Sapphires in UW (same amount)

Diamonds are in fact one of the *prizes* of African continent Lots of mining down there.

Ectos going extinct ??? and.... diamonds, sapphires and ruby maybe for a *new* kind of FoW armor in Nightfall???

how can they make ectos extinct, that would completely ruin things for almost everyone that has ectos stored up. Ectos are basically money and used for mainly purchasing expensive items. I dont think they can make ectos extinct. i mean theres still prophecies. still it will be wierd if they add rubies/sapphires/diamonds to the market and make them equal worth cause then people will start buying them. there will always be prophecies players needing ectos however so i guess well have to wait and see.
