First thing i have to say-This is not going to be a copy of the assassin or Naruto.

Primary-Evasion
For every point you have in this attribute, you have a + 1% chance to evade attacks. Also,many Ninja skils dealing with taking less damage are increased with Evasion.

Nunchuck Mastery
Increases the damage you do with Nunchucks. Also, many skills that use Nunchucks to deal damage are increased with Nunchuck Mastery.

Shuriken Mastery
Increases the damage dealt with Shurikens. Also, many skills that use Shurikens to deal damage become better with Shuriken Mastery.

Sneaking
Many skills that deal with cloaking and smaller aggrovation area are increased with Sneaking.

Sounds like a mixture of A and R but VERY good idea, sounds like a Rogue. the nunchuck idea doesnt sound too good IMO, but shuriken is a cool concept for GW. I was kinda Dissd with the assasin from factions, so a ninjalike touch would be cool. Arent nunchucks more for showing off anyway?

while nunchucks are good for showing off, it would still hurt a lot to be hit by a piece of wood thats swingning at a fast speed.

Umm...the attributes would need work, a smaller aggro bubble would make it more popular in groups I suppose...but you know, kinda unfair too. 16% chance to evade attacks at max evasion...combine that with a decent stance and you can nearly literally never be hit o_O

Evasion(Primary)
For every rank in this atribute, you get + .5% chance to "evade" attacks. Also, many skills involving reducing damage become better with Evasion.

I have also decided to change Sneaking to make it more PvP oriented.

Many skills that deal with cloaking and not being able to be targeted are increased with Sneaking.

A-Net had it on their Concept Boards several times and they also kicked it out several times for reasons of balancing.

Dude i just looked at this concept, and the skills you would want to implement, all i say is this have you ever played a game called Neverwinternights, if you have you would know of a character class called Shadow dancer, this character class was bascially the end game of all uber and overpowered Character classes, it swept like a pestilence across the NWN servers. now there was alot of things wrong with the balancing of the pvp meta game in Neverwinter Nights but Shadow dancers effectively destroyed the pvp metagame in NWN simply because the skills it had at it's disposal were too powerful. Due to it's innate nature and destructive power alot of pvp server admins specifcally banned the character from there servers as it was getting abused to death.

Alot of the skills you are recommending for your Ninja class are strikingly similar to those of the shadow dancer from Neverwinter nights such as the evasion thing and the adepteness at sneaking around.

the point being giving a character those types of feats such as sneaking immeaditely puts him at a distinctively greater advantage than almost all of the other character types, As he would be able to see them yet the oppoent would be at the disadvantage of have no way of detecting him or her. Now propose this

Assassin/Ninja- The Assassin's huge dps per second and the Ninja's ability to sneak up on a target without a chance of being detected. It would be a slaughter, As your oppoents would get little to no chance to even prepare for the attack let alone fight back. Then once the assassin has laid down his spike wants to stop the Assassin/ninja just using another sneaking skill to evade detection once more until his skills have recharged and then spiking again. Arguably a character like this could become the mac daddy of the pvp metagame.

What i say is this for your character concept keep the evasion thing as i think that's alright.But drop the sneaking stuff and in it's place something else to do with Ninja's like KI or something.

i read actionjack's thief earlier toay and the balancing systems were noted. here is how sneaking will be balanced

sneaking skills are always ended prematurely if you attack or are attacked, unless oltherwise noted like in Camoflauge. this means that AoE and traps will deactivate the sneaking skill.

if that still doesnt work, then her is this.

Ninjutsu Transformation(no it is not a copy of Naruto, this is a mythological ninja skill, gw has magic, so i put it in)
Many skills that deal with changing form to deal more or different kinds of damage are increased with Ninjutsu Transformation.


a skill example-
Blinding Sun(Ninjutsu Transformation Enchantment)
Cost-10
Cast-2
Recharge-15
Transform into a blinding sun to blind up to three enemies for (2...5) seconds and deal 10 extra damage to all nearby undead.

Thnx Ulivious The Reaper for fixing the skills, they are a lot better now, sry Gosu but i didnt understandanything other than "take away sneak skills but evade is fine" and actionjack it would be more fun to play a ninja tengu than a human tengu. and all(if any) other races will be game specific creatures so that this doesnt become WoW

The reason why i am against this character as i am not talking off the top of my head i am talking from experience, i have seen characters like this implemented into games and it almost always ends in tears usually for the players as their the one's who will be crying about balancing it.

He has only given one example of a skill for the sneaking class that he would like to implement, i am also going off his intial comment as well.

How would you define the term Cloaking, i would say it means to mask,conceal or hide.

I wouldn't be suprised if he would want to implement skills which would aid such a character to be hidden from detection as well.

I can only say so much, but you said it yourself, how can one take damage if he can't be targeted or detected, AoE damage would probably be the only way but still isn't guranteed by any stretch of the imagination, there are a few other skills like this in game but they are most notably elites and have big drawbacks, camoflauge is neither an elite and doesn't really have that big a drawback.

I mean the real concern is the fact that he wants to base a whole attribute class around stealth and stuff, which would almost inevitably mean that there would be skills where one would be able to avoid detection.

If Anet where going to implement stealth, sneaking, cloaking or whatever, i would say they would need to sit down and think long and hard about it. As something like this could seriously harm the pvp game. I would say though it's better to be safe than sorry keep well away from sneaking, stealth, cloaking until someone produces a good way to implement it.

or you could end up with another mess on your hands like bioware did with Neverwinter Nights in terms of the pvp side of the game.

Many skills that deal with not being targeted become more effective with sneaking. Also, you gain + .5% more chance to "evade" attacks while using a Sneaking skill.

More balancing-
1.Only elite sneaking skills would last more than 10 seconds, but most normal skills dont go above 7 seconds.the ones that do goabove 7 have higher costs and recharge

2.while using a sneaking skill, only people who were already targeting you can attack you.this works well with the new Sneaking.

if you think there are any more balancing issues, please say so and please tell me how they could be more balanced, but if its not possible to balance it, tell me to stick with Ninjutsu(or Ninjitsu) Transformation.
