What about prophecies?
UBS
I don't know if this has already been posted but i don't know why prophecies has had absolutly no events since the release of factions. All events havee been on factions. Personally i don't think that it's right to pile one chapter with events while leaving another, earlier chapter stranded and left to die.
I don't think there's much more to say.
Thanks for reading, Lee.

I guess, but seems a little unfair don't you think. A person with factions without prophecies isnt drawn towards prophecies, so it's pretty even both ways.
You're talking about getting people to buy factions.
What about giving events to prophecies to get factions players to buy prophecies?
People who have bought prophecies expect content update / events, but they don't get any.

A player quits Guild Wars Prophecies completely. ArenaNet brings in a special "Prophecies only" event. The player comes back into the game just because the event was irresistable, without paying anything.
Now, if the event were to be in the newest game in the franchise, and it was just as irresistable to the player, they would want to purchase the game (hypothetically).
Hurrah. Case solved.
edit - I can see why you would want people to buy Prophecies..I'll try to think up of a theory for that too >_>

there is really only time for 1 big event and 1 or 2 preview events per game. There arnt many Holidays worth celebrating on Guild Wars.

How are people so shocked that this is happening? Isn't this common sense?

Well, obviously because you can't have a DRAGON Festival in Tyria when Cantha is that asian-based continent.

Then they should make a prophecies based event.
And yes, it's the same either way. People bought factoins without prophecies. A whole lot more copies where sold of factions.
Now why do they want prophecies to buy factions and not the other way around?
People who have bought factions only are getting fun and exciting events while people who have prophecies are getting nothing.

Ninna
once Nightfall is released,
you can expect most special events be restricted to Nightfall only
its Anets way of getting people to buy the newest chapter

Hows about i do have factions? And how's about don't post until you know?
Yeah ninna, i do agree with you there.

what about people who have Factions ONLY?
why not giving them a reason to buy Prophecies?
and what about people who dont have Factions and are at the edge of stop playing Guild Wars? why not giving them a reason to still play Guild Wars, and then, in the meanwhile, give them a reason to buy Factions?
Its not THAT hard/expensive to make some updates at both continents
Like quests that you have to go to cantha, and then tyria, and then you have an awsome reward at the end... Like elite missions, but they would be quests

The fact is that old products will be abandoned for newer more lucrative ones. Don't expect to see old chapters updated.

So theres been 3 events for factions so far, the pre-release, the dragon fest and the free entry to Deep/Urgoz, and theres gonna be 1 more.
Thats not too many events for one game, especially not since if you looked at it, prophecies got the same amount of updates/events, Halloween, Wintersday, addition of high level areas and so on.
Id say its so far fair, and I dont see why your upset your not getting these bonuses, your not entitled to them, the Devs are doing it when they dont need to.

I just think it would be disappointing to see events like Wintersday forgotten and replaced with some boring festival like the one we just finished celebrating.
If they're going to neglect other chapters in terms of holidays and future updates, they could at least make the newer holidays more enjoyable.
And in regards to previous game updates in general, why keep them on the market at all if you're not going to update them? It's stupid. People set out to buy Prophecies and get nothing new from it, while people with Factions are constantly getting updates.
So once Nightfall is released, what's going to happen to Factions? Probably the same thing, but again, if they aren't going to have new updates, why even bother to continue selling the product? (Aside from, well, the obvious ... playing the game for what it is).
IMO I didn't like the Dragon Festival, but to each their own right?
Many people did. Many people didn't.
I just think that Wintersday and the Halloween festival were FAR more entertaining then the Dragon Festival, and now I begin to wonder if they will bring them back in both Prophecies and Factions, or simply leave them for Factions, and change the names. Or ... for that matter, if Nightfall is released, why bother with Factions either? Why not just rename the holidays and put them in Nightfall?
True. It's Marketing, but I think a lot of people will agree with me when I say losing out on Wintersday and Halloween would be a huge disappointment.
I have a feeling 'Wintersday' is going to end up being 'Krismas With Kisu', and if that's the case I may have to resort to shooting myself in the face.
"Hi children ... come sit on Kisu's lap and tell the old Emperanta what you want for X-mas this year ..."

I personaly think that all Chapters should have events to balance it out a bit. They did say they didn't want it to be "oh well if you want events you have to buy Expansion 2"
I think people are confusing real events to made up events. If Wintersday or halloween are only for certain expansions that will suck big time but im sure that won't happen.

What about Prophecies? It had events for a year. Factions has had events for...three months.

i hope anet forgets prophecies all together, they would stop nerfing all the good farming spots wich means more money for me!
im poor....

Nickhimself
Who cares about Prophecies? Anet doesn't have to. They stated that the game is free to play online. They never stated that they HAVE to update older chapters, just to make people happy who don't want to go out and buy the newest expansion which helps fund the servers you play on.
Knight Othin Of War
i agree, why should we have more events in prophecies
i personally found factions too easy and a bit too short compared to prophecies, you could complete factions in a week
