...but apparently many other people don't. I see a lot of 'what class should I be' posts, which I'm differentiating slightly from the 'what class is teh most 1337 so I can pwn noobz' because in my opinion the latter is more competitive (and maybe more easily answered, but that's another post), while the former seems more like just a lack of the ability to think independently. To help these poor souls out, I propose... the GW Personality Test! Maybe 50 questions, multiple choice, and at the end it will spit out a reply along the lines of 'You should be a <class>! Congrats!' That way we can add
Take the personality test
to our list of canned responses, right next to
Did you check the Wiki?

There are aptitude test out there now for everything from how much of a geek you are to what your perfect mate should be... why not something to help you choose a GW character? Just an idea...

You be whatever class you want to be.

May I suggest checking the build section of Guildwiki for start? See what builds there are and what kind of class you want to be.

Heck you have 4-6 character slots! Why not make some PvP characters? See what classes you like, try making a few.

You shouldn't need a test to figure out what you like.

The OP isn't looking for help deciding on a class - he's commenting on all the other people who can't decide. He's suggesting (jokingly I assume) that a class-based aptitude test is created for forum use to help those lost souls find their proper class identity. :P

Answer: Yes: Make a W/Mo.

*EDIT* I could make more of a joke of this one, but can't be bothered.

Actually you couldn't have said it any worse. The OP was making a fun suggestion about matching personality w/ GW classes. I know some RPGs do this and it is interesting. (Morrowind is the one I'm thinking of off the top of my head)
I always answer the questions to see what kind of character the game says I should be, but then never end up making that kind of character.

same here. Probably because if I wanted to be like I am in real life, I wouldn't be playing a game.

I didnt find Guru until a few months after I had begun playing, I found it better to play as a class, and then delete if I didnt like it. I first played a ranger, dindt like that class, deleted, and played Necro.

Now i do have a ranger among my crew after branching out, but for me, necro was brilliant first class, but maybe not for everyone. It really does depend on people's play styles, so I hate how people constantly ask what the "best" first class is.

The trouble with doing an aptitude test is that unless u programmed a reallly really good one, they are rubbish, hell some company aimed at helping the youth of England get jobs (connections if you know them) their aptitude test kept telling me to be a florist! I hate flowers, working with them, and all things that crawl accross them!

You scored as Necromancer.

You are a Necromancer: master of the dead, raising minions to do your bidding and cursing others that get in your way. You are nobody to be trifled with.

Yeah, I don't see how it would help people, having a quiz to work out what class you should be... If it told me I should be a Warrior, I would be most upset since I really don't like them that much (no, I'm not against warriors - I just don't want to play one myself), and much prefer elementalists and mesmers. I do plan on having one of each core class in the end. I will leave Warrior until last but I guess I will try one eventually. Currently I have Elementalist, Mesmer & Necromancer (also a Ritualist, just cause I liked the look of them) - I think Ranger will be next on my list...

I decided on my first character by reading the blurb on them in the manual, even though I hate manuals! That way I could make an informed decision since I was very new to the game. Since then I've gained experience and started on other professions.

Edit: Haa haa - just took the test:
Necromancer 60%
Elementalist 60%
Mesmer 40%
Warrior 30%
Ranger 30%
Monk 30%
Thank God Warrior didn't come out top! Happily enough though, I have the top three! Only I made my own mind up on those before taking a test!

I did not choose my character they chose me! LOL

I started as a big ugly warrior then deleted, then tried ranger and deleted, then tried necro and loved her and she is one of my main characters.

I then added an assassin to the family when factions was released, then a rit. Now I have also added a ranger and a warrior. The only classes I have had no understanding of yet is eles and mesmers.

I intend to run at least one of each class properly to get a better understanding of my victims!

My main fun character is my sin, even though she does struggle to get picked for any team! Unless of course it is with our guild!

And yes I play for fun, if it's not fun then there is no point playing! My sin never got picked by anyone at the ellite weekend! but it did not stop me going in! I had a look around and then got suicide healthed by those vampire thingies! LOL The longest I lasted in there was about 5 mins! I ran the other way then I NTP got back ran down and got those bouncy things all around me! LOL

I try lots of things out and my sin is usually the main character I use now. That may be because I actually prefer not to be picked by the standard team choices for missions! "Looking for W, looking for Monk, barrarger LFG, group LF someone who can only use a standard build and has no imagination" OK I made the last bit up, but stand around long enough and you see all of that going on. Seriously, if you are into crowd watching then a sin is your character. Stand right in the middle of an active area and see how many people ignore you completely! LOL

The main things are to decide on whether your an in your face fighter or stand off ranged fighter, then from there you narrow down your choices.

"If it told me I should be a Warrior, I would be most upset since I really don't like them that much"

I'm guessing here that you did not try the quiz? Usually these types of quizes are done in such a way that they are fairly accurate about you! So if your bent is more towards necro then by answering the questions honestly you should have necro as an high choice! You can't knock something if you have not tried it!

I tried the quiz after I entered my post - I only noticed the link afterwards! I'm not "knocking" warriors - It's like you said - I'm just not an "in your face" kind of player...I much prefer to cast. But I will try Warrior one day - I plan on having one of each Core character...eventually.

You scored as Ranger.

You are a Ranger: You are one with nature, you might have a pet, and you are very effective at trapping the enemy.

Ranger 80% (Aurora Anariel)
Warrior 65% (Ischade Anariel)
Elementalist 60% (Tyche Orb)
Necromancer 55% (Xiombarg Swordqueen)
Monk 30% (Cotton Swab)
Mesmer 20% (Ok, so my other character is an assassin...)

Funny story - my main character is a warrior, but recently I created a ranger and have been enjoying it. This test makes me laugh because it's so unexpectedly accurate for me! =)

It honestly depends on my mood. I tried playing a Necro at first, didn't "get it", and switch to a Mesmer/Ele. After getting frustrated by finding groups, I sold out and made a W/Mo, who I actually enjoyed playing a lot (now a W/Ra).

When Factions came out, I knew I had to get Flesh Golem. So, I made a new Necro MM, and am having a blast. I must say, there's something really fun about summoning up hordes of undead (although I still need to perfect the timing on Death Nova and BotM to make sure some of my weaker bone minions die before they are healed.

I'm scared of making a Dervish in Nightfall, becaus I know everyone is going to make a Dervish, so I might start as a Monk until the Dervish crowd thins out. I've never played a Monk, and I'd like to try.
