i dunno if any1 has discussed this yet but how many xtra char slots will we get for nightfall? or has anet not announced anything yet

if you got factions and prophecies you'l get only one, if you only have one of them you get 2 i think

Same deal as with Factions: 2 slots if added to an account, 4 if used as a standalone. Let me look for a link to the interview...

dam thats pretty crap.... since i have both factions and prophecies i will only get to create 1 more character? 
oh well lucky i have only 5 chars atm so i will be able to try out both dervish and paragon

since i already have a confirmed full game with bonus items order already they are one and the same.
price was 49.99 plus tax/s&h
they may have a preorder without the slot later like the others but i doubt that as it would create mass confusion

I think the bonus slot with the preorder is Anet's way of appeasing those that cannot buy slots from the online store.

The questions was: Is the pre-release going to be a pre-order for the game, or a totally seperate item?
We already know that the bonus slot is going to be a bonus slot...
You see the problem is... with this whole deal about the pre-release, there is nowhere that states it is going to be a pre-order for the game. There is nowhere that states that when you buy the pre-realease you are in fact buying the game itself. This is all that is officially stated:

Do you really think Anet would charge you $50 for an extra slot and some weapons? No.
I think they just changed the name "pre-order" to "pre-release", perhaps because stores like Best Buy don't actually reserve your order, but still take the $$$ spent on the "pre-release/order" off the actual game if you present the reciept.
Disclaimer: Like everyone's comments, this is just my speculation. However, it seems a rational one.

Ya, I think your right in saying that, my guess is they also just changed the name. I would agree totally with you that it would be a crappy deal if they sold it that way. But, this reads scam all over it. I trust a-net, and they wouldnt do that but, imo they need to clarify what their trying to sell.

Oh, well, I guess we'll find out soon enough (when the "pre-release" comes out in September, if not sooner).

The change was effective and apparent to me...
After the obvious flop and ill-press around the Factions Preordering (Not getting shipped on time, date mixups, misinformation at the stores, etc, This is linked to the less than projected sales of Factions) this is a good move to clear all of that.
The "Before its out" package now is not linked to actually pre-ordering the game. Its a "Bonus" seperate thing...and I love it...No more going to EB Games and playing Ring Around the Point trying to figure out if you'll ever get the package by setting a preorder...Now when you ask for the "Bonus Pack" it'll be pretty clear what you are after.

Prerelease is not equal to preordering. I got my prerelease pack for Factions from Amazon for $1 that had the extra weapons and a trial key and an early start key, but I still had to order the actual game. The Nightfall prerelease should be basically the same although higher priced because of the character slot.

so many people will be buying this thinking it's going to get them the game, and then turn around and find out that they have to buy the game seperate. :O
