Well the Rt's main use is support and healing, while spirits lay down support fire. All the channeling magic I've seen thus far is either not effective in Damage:Recharge ratio or requires a contrived gimmick to work.

Besides, the 2 better offensive spells are already in Spawning: Doom (For spirit spammers w/o Rit Lord) and Rupture Soul. I've done 170 to an Afflicted mage just using Doom, so that's humorus.

You can never have enough skills :P

But yea, Chanelling needs a buff or something because it has pretty bad damage atm.

I think they made channeling bad for a reason. The elementalist is clearly meant to deal more lightning damage than a ritualist can. If they buffed channeling, then elementalists could become useless in the domain of air magic because everyone wanting to deal lightning damage would flock to the ritualist like the mooing mammals they are. You could, however, complement the ritualist skill line with the elementalist's, using the knockdown of a rit with bed of coals, for instance.

Ritualists are for support mainly. Since the cries of "GLF Monk(s) for mission, self invite" happen all over the entire planet of GW in PvE, Ritualists have been called upon to help these poor folks in missions.

PUGs tend to want people to be healers and protectors, so Monks and Ritualists are usually built like that. You rarely see smiters or channelers in a group without healers, or even with healers.
