Ascalon Armor and Superior Absorptions...
Seraphim of Chaos
There is a lot of confusion about Ascalon armor and Absorption runes. Does the armor and rune only affect that one piece of armor or the whole character? For instance, if someone hit me with a physical attack on my hauberk with a sup absorption, would it be -3 damage only on that piece, or would he hit the same amount on a piece of armor without a superior absorption? Also, is Ascalon Armor the same, and does it stack with sup absorptions for that piece of armor? I was thinking of putting sup absorptions on all of the pieces....I know this is confusing, but please read it all.

Ascalon/Knights armor only affects the location of the armor. Runes are still global.

Runes are global, so -3(sup absorb) in all 5 pieces of armor no matter where the rune is. Ascalon/knight are locational, only reduction on that piece of armor. So having Ascalon boots only give you -3 vs physical on your boots and no where else.

If you had a knight's / ascalon helm with no rune on it, and you had Gladiator's boots on with a Sup. Absorbtion rune on it (all other armor being runeless) and you got hit on the head*, you would recieve -6 ( -3 / -3) damage. If you got smacked on your toe*, you would receive -3 damage. NOW, if you added a second Sup. Absorbtion rune to you're armor, you would have the exact same results. BUT, if you add a -2 shield, you would recieve - 8 damage for head shots and -5 damage for getting your toe stepped on.
*physical damage only.
Look around a bit, there's a couple other not-so-old threads about this.
