The Scribe
No, I'm not in it, even for my work in helping newbies in The Deep and Urgoz's Warren. I'm quite surprised (considering many people thought I was a shoo-in). The Scribe really needs to stick her head outside of the main cities sometimes.
Ah well.
I, of course, love the irony that The Scribe fails to mention the normal method of entering the Elite Missions...newbies are going to be very, very, confused.

Did you read the entire thing?
It talks about Sardelec, which is in no way a main city.

I'm not even going to contemplate the lore flaw that was present in the Urgoz/Deep section (how exactly do you talk to Mhleno at Sardelac Sanitarium if he out killing both White Mantle and Shiro? Then again, that's a lore flaw in itself.)

Mhenlo never kills White Mantle and Shiro at the same time. The Factions storyline takes place (time line wise) during your initial visit to Lion's Arch. Many just ASSUME (wrongly) that Factions takes place after Tyria's storyline, when infact it is in the middle of it.
Also for someone that has beaten the Lich, It is safe to assume that with the troubles over that the Heros of Ascalon would return home - so of course Mhenlo would have taken back over his responibilities at the Sanitarium.

Acknowledging the efforts of helpful people in the game is great in concept, but the way the Scribe chooses to do it is...well, not really representative of the true game environment. There are TONS of people who help in all areas of the game, not just the main cities. Those people have zero chance of being recognized. Even within the main cities, the chances of being noticed by the scribe are slim to none. I myself spend alot of time helping new people in Ascalon City. I do it because I want to, and I don't desire recognition, although I have been told numerous times that I deserve it. I always help via PMs, because it is far easier. Maybe I am wrong, but don't most people help via whispers? The Scribe obviously can't see whispers between people, so that eliminates a whole chunk of people even within the large cities.

Mad the scribe because you were not mentioned out of the other hundreds of people who help everyone daily?
It also comes down to where the scribe is and what he sees when he is on.

half of the time you were making your witty remarks and calling everyone "newbie"

we all just need to remember that the scribe exist to enchance the Role playing feel to the game that it solely lacks on its own and providing detailed information is not its primary but rather secondary purpose.
Enjoy it if you find the Lore entertaining, disregard it if you feel otherwise.

From what I see, the scribe only notices people who are obviously "kind" (yelling across LA to the guy on the other side via ALL chat), or people that he goes and "hangs out" with.

Anyway, people who expect a reward for their kindness, are not kind at all. Most acts of kindness go unnoticed.
Yawgmoth
That's why they're called "RANDOM acts of kindness" - there's lots of luck involwed in getting mentioned, just because they can't track all the good deeds.

Unfortunately the advent of the scribe has brought about people who give away things, help others in all chat, etc. purely to get noticed. But at least people are getting helped, so why complain?

I think its extremely unfair to criticize the Scribe for not recognizing the apparent greatness of you; one player among hundreds of thousands. That would be like if the New York Times had 5 employees and people got mad because they didn't cover a story about a cat stuck in a tree on Long Island.

Cats aside, I wasn't putting down the scribe, I was making a point. If you want to get noticed, yell helpful looking messages in Lion's Arch or Shing Jea. I doubt this Monk (they told us this much) can read minds, or whispers of others for that matter.
DFrost
Maybe the Scribe plays an A/Me, got kicked out of an elite mission group, and now holds a personal grudge against you. He probably has a little post-it note attached to his screen saying "Do not mention Syria Blackblood in future articles".
Divinus Stella
Perhaps it was the noobs helping you thru the elite missions, after all you didnt do it solo did you? there was a team of 11 others also there doing the mission.
You got drops for doing the missions, along with everyone else, what makes you so special?

If the sole reason for your writing of that rather incomplete and biased guide was to get into the Scribe, it's not a random act of kindness. It's an act of attention-seeking.

Rereading the post, I sound a bit arrogant.
But in order to stop the baseless accusations, this was what I did for most of the Elite Mission Weekend.
I'm just surprised that The Scribe wouldn't have seen that message (let alone anyone else in this topic), since it was a special event. Not dissappointed, it wasn't my only intention, I'm just surprised.
(PS: That guide wasn't biased. I only received about 2 questions total about the Mesmer and the Assassin roles...out of maybe 200.)

If you only do nice things to try and get famous, you shouldn't do them at all.

How many times have I said it: I did not help out at the missions just to get into the damn Scribe!
I'm just surprised.

I'm inclined to follow the flock on this one. Seems that the OP was aiming for getting his/her name mentioned in the scribe and is now upset that it didn't happen. Oh well. People do nice things for people every day and a lot of them expect nothing for them. The people who expect nothing in return are without motive and this is what the sccribe recognizes. If you are truly helping people for the sake of doing it, than a simple thank you, to you, from the helped should be more than enough. After all, you're helping people, not yourself.
