More MMORPGism?
Eldin
I enjoy GW, though in the past, I've played MMORPGs that have other things to them than combat. I do not ask that we turn this into WoW, but here are some ideas...
1) Other crafting ideas. Perhaps gems and other things of the sort, that you can cut and use as enchantments on armor, kind of like runes? You could be given a crafting attribute or a crafting level needed for things like this.
2) Potionmaking. Sounds interesting. Instead of abilities, even if healing abilities are bountiful, how about herbs and things, that spawn in areas and/or dropped by enemies that can be used in potions for things such as stat bonuses (since healing is out of the question with all the healing abilities mentioned earlier).
3) Pubs. Areas in towns that sell beer, etc...perhaps NPC gossipers, a good place to plan parties and such.
---
Mere things like that could add a "twist" to combat, perhaps give a few more things to do when you are bored.

Good to see others agree, for there are people in the world who just love all out combat.
Also, in theory, 'tis more of a dropdown link on this forum.

All these suggestions are similar too things you can do in WoW, very similar.
But okay, it would be kinda cool with crafting proffs etc, but its nothing i really dream about.
The only thing i think Guild Wars should really do soon is 1vs1 and larger Battlegrounds

More rpg elements would keep me in guild wars longer, currently in "break" mode for now due to bordem with the game.

NO potions. They specifically said GW is a no potion game...

I like such idea.. but need some modification to them to apart them from other MMO, since GW don't operate like a typical MMO.
- I would push from more Mods and Rune varity. And I really hope to get the Skill Gem's back and allow it to enhance your weapon with it (sorta like the Raggie's Card)
- Potions should never be an item in inventory. GW is not about items and potion spamming. However, an alternative way I am thinking would be something like a random quest. You could gather herbs (like the Iris you give to Gwen) in exploration map. At some spots, in map, will be Herbalist, who will offer to mix them for you if you have X amount. That will give you some sort of bonus, but only IN MAP. The effect will be gone once you move out of the exploration map. This is smilar to praying to the gods statue.
- Yes on a Pub or Traven place. Once concern is GW don't do small indoor building too well, so might got some trouble there. (maybe just making it static? where you got fix camera view that don't change and you cann't move while you are int here? like a big Chat Room) Would be a nice place where it will be serprate from the outside Chats.

I'm not sure why small interiors don't go well in GW. I know the engine isn't a free-roaming one, but I just can't see why they cannot get an interior done...if they lack the skills to do so or if the engine interferes with enclosed areas.

well..sugest they use the invisible walls they pop up all over the game (yeah, dont you just HATE it when you are looking for a way to somewhere and Wham! your against a invisi-wall and have a run in with a henchies suprised-pile-up ^^)
just make the inside of the home conected to its garden and so on.....like you enter the place via its garden gate....walk up the path, pass thru the door arch and your in the main room. theres stairs (like in cats or towns) to the right or left, alowing you to go upstairs.....another area up there (all part of the same area, technicaly) and another arch-door that leads onto a balcony area with a view of the town your in (alowing them to make it a larger area, even though we cant get to that part...hence the invisi-wall thing)

The vision for the game was to be different from MMO's, thats why they called it a CORPG. They dont want people to have to grind to raise levels, plus some of the stuff you suggested wouldn't work for PvP. GvG would be who has more gold to get more potions.

an example is any *building* you come to and check out the *avoidance radius* around the corners and any archway as an example

Maybe a stronger PvE kind of thing? Like a character can steal an egg and have a dragon as a pet I like the idea of raids in WoW. One of the only things that appeal to me from that game.

This game isn't an MMORPG. It's a CORPG.

This game is both a PvE and a PvP game. ANet tries to balance the two. Whether they are successful is not up for debate. Both areas, while lacking, are in competition with games that are only oriented to one or the other,
This game isn't WoW, but it is a competitor, and a free one at that.
Don't be such an ass. It isn't kindly looked upon.
