Glyph of Lesser Energy "bug" ?

Not sure if this is the proper venue for this question but hopefully I picked the right spot. Was testing something out and noticed, accidentally when I hit the wrong hotkey, that when you use the Ele's "Glyph of Lesser Energy" on a spell that costs less then 15 energy you get penalized instead of getting a free spell.

The Glyph description is: For 15 seconds, your next spell costs 15 less Energy to cast.

Now this works as described when you cast a spell that costs 15 or more energy, but if you cast a spell that only costs 5 energy you end up being charged 10 energy for that spell.

As an example:
Lets say you have an energy pool of 86
Use Glyph of Lesser Energy (cost of 5 energy)
Let energy rebuild back to 86
Cast a 5 energy spell
Result is 76 energy remaining.

Is this a "bug" or is it for some odd reason intentional?

*I do not know if this happens the same way when using the elite Glyph of Energy, which is a similar glyph, since I never bothered to cap it.

Hmm, if that's indeed the case, sounds like a bug to me.

What spell are you using?

I just tested it out with flare and it worked fine.

I just tested this out on my N/E with a 5en spell from both sides (grasping earth and blood renewal). Glyphed, let pool regen to max (51) and cast. My pool stayed at 51.

Never had problems with not getting enough energy back, but then again I've never paid that much attention.

However, I've had a friend tell me about a different glitch. Say you have 15 energy and use the glyph you now have 10 energy. If you go to cast a spell that's 15 energy it should be free, and thus should not require you to actually HAVE 15 energy on your bar to cast it. My friend claims he's gotten a glitch where even though he has the glyph active, it'll tell him 'not enough energy' when he tries to cast a 15E spell, when he's clearly over the energy needed to cast the spell WITH the glyph but not without.

Does that make sense? Sorry for the kind of convoluted explanation. I've tried this out and the glyph has never done this to me, but has anyone else had this happen to them? He was on a warrior when it happened.

Thanks

ok I figured out 2 things.
-1. I am a bit of an idiot
-2. The 5 energy spells I was casting were causing exhaustion, hence the energy drain.

I believe his problem was trying to cast too soon after using the glyph. It has a bit of a delay and will give the not enough energy message if it's cast too quickly afterwars. I experience this quite often.

I am inclined to believe your friend was under the effects of Quickening Zephyr or something else that increases the energy to cast spells. I remember someone complaining before (a warrior) that he received a message that he didn't have enough energy to use healing signet. I can't remember what the skill or environmental effect, but it resulted in signets costing energy, and this was the explanation. Your friend seems to have a similar circumstance.

Well, after all that debate we figured out why the combo wasn't working. He was trying to use it for lightning touch, and that's a skill, not a spell. Whoopsie!
