My brother has given my daughter his GW account as she loves to play and he hardly does anymore. We are attempting to remove his orignal name from the account so that it does not show up on friends lists as his old name. Like I have always had him on my friends list of course and even after we deleted every char and let the account sit empty when we make a char he still appears on my list as his old name with hers in ()
Its not a huge deal but i would prefer it not to be linked to his old account things.

Is this possible?

The only way I have found to do this is to remove the person from your friends list and then re-add the new character name

Changing a character name is not an effective method in protecting your daughter's online gaming activities. If you are that concerned, it will be up to you "DAD", to observe her online chat.

There is a chat filter (Press F11) and you can pick one of the three options.

Guild Wars User Agreement

(a) Eligibility. Accounts are available only to adult individuals 18 years of age or older. If you are less than 18 years of age and wish to use the Service, your parent(s) or guardian(s) must complete the registration process, open an Account in their name(s) and accept full responsibility for all obligations under this Agreement.
Changing Character Name Timelimit:

Deleted character names go into a 60-minute holding period to allow the reserved name to be maintained on the same account. If you delete a character on one account, the name will become available to anyone after 60 minutes. You may then be able to create that named character on another account.

Note: There is a risk that someone else will acquire the name and bind it to his or her account. Name transfer from one account to another is risky, at best.
Even though it is your brother's account, he is in violation of the Guild Wars User Agreement.

If your daughter "loves to play" the game as much as you say, I would recommend you purchase her own copy. She probably would not even be concerned about starting from the beginning of the game.
