Setting up Shop
Allessra
I think a good idea for Guild Wars is the capability to set up "shop." This way you can display what you have for sale instead of constantly posting in the "Trade" or "Chat" channels. People can pass by, see what there is for sale and the price and purchase if they like it. Besides saving time for the seller it will also save the system by keeping the chat counts down. Then again, this is just a random suggestion from someone who has the attention span of a hyper-active humming bird and is too lazy to constantly have to arrow through previous messages to post what they are selling.

Why not, i like this idea when im playing L2, its a good idea.
But this method is kinda limited to <100k sale and you can only sell 1 item for 100k. It wont reduce the sell spam much. It is kinda 'flawed' for item that is > 100k and the concept of reducing the chat spam is flawed, just look at L2, they have the shop but people still spam the chat and advertise where are their shop at. its not as usefull as it looks like. Its good for people like me that love afk selling.

If you want an example for this, play Kal-Online (it's a free RPG)
If you check out the firs city, BAM! Ten Thousand people sitting there with a yellow tag above them (the tag is the title of the shop) then you go up to them and then you see what they got. Then you select the quantity of the item and then buy!!! Of course every item in the shop has a price, but it varies from shop to shop, so it's like a flea market.
I liked that a lot, but it got kind of laggy... Well not for me because I got cable and my computer is good. But I lag more on GW so this could become a problem.....

This isn't going to weaken the trade channels, if you're not online then your character will be on 24/7. Active trading is more effective than waiting for someone to walk all over town looking at every stall for something that they want.

i think it is a great idea, it is impossible to sell anything in LA districts 1 and 2 because the chat box is so cluttered with WTS spams. it is also very time consuming to set up a "Storage Cleanout" thread on the Guru Trade Forum because of all the screenshots and Cut/Paste stuf you have to deal with, and then if someone does bid there is no gaurantee that they will actually meet you in game to buy the item. GRRRR, such a waste of time.

the whole shop or stall system is a little annoying for various reasons.
When i played silkroad online, the shops would be set up in the most obnoxious locations possible, next to npcs that i had to talk to, in hopes i'd accidentally click on their stall.
hundreds of people online but afk wasting bandwidth so they can make money. in a game where lag was an issue like that it was pretty irritating.
in short, obnoxious local chat spam probably wouldn't be effected, and instead we'd have the problem of an influx of stalls everywhere we don't want them.
