As an added bonus, key magazines in each European territory will include an access key for an exclusive, in-game Gray Giant miniature. The Gray Giant will be useable during the World Preview Event, and then may be reactivated with a Guild Wars Nightfall account upon release.
Anyone have any idea which mags? Only a few weeks to go so must be ones that are out between now and then

I'm curious why a random gift generated by an automated process means anything to you.

A well thought out gift given for personal reasons means something to me yes.

A public relations courtesy gift, no.

For example I just got two cards in the mail yesterday. The first is an amusing birthday card from a friend overseas, a simple yet meaningful reminder that they were thinking of me.

The second was one sent to me by my insurance company.

Guess which one is standing on my dining room table and which one immediately got trashed.

I also just absolutely love the sentiment that they should be customized, that selling them is wrong, yet you sold yours anyway.

But hey you felt bad about it, so it's okay right?

From guildwars.com:

"For an added bonus, the November 2006 issue of PC Gamer magazine, due in stores a week before the event, boasts a Guild Wars Nightfall cover story, and includes an access key for an exclusive, in-game, Gray Giant miniature. The Gray Giant will be useable during the World Preview Event, and then may be reactivated with a Guild Wars Nightfall account upon release."

So to answer those questions above:

1. Yes, you will have to have Nightfall to keep it, but not to have it initially during the preview weekend.
2. Will be available next week, look for Tues or Wed I would guess
3. It says nothing about being customized, so it may be possible to sell them outright.

We'll see how they handle the customization when they come out.

Gaile confirmed weeks ago that it wont be customized and it is unlikely any minipet will ever be customized. But you'll have to wait til Nightfall goes live to sell your Gray Giant; anyone that sells their Gray Giant that disappears after the PvE preview is a jerk.

Something tells me, this exclusive mini pet won't be customized. Knightsaber, i bet you once peoples get Gray Giant on the PvE event, they're probably going to sell it to those who don't want to buy the magazine in store without telling them that they need to have nightfall in order to keep it.

The mini pet is not customized as Gail said.
However you wont be able to add another key to an account that already has a key for the Grey Giant.

In other words, if you think about buying a bunch of PC gamers to make a profit then you wont be able to use them since you can only add one key.

I assume that you can still sell the acutall key but it depends if people will trust to give you in game gold for a key that maybe be made up by scammers.

The pet will be available during the preview and then disappears.
You can redo the quest again to get back the pet once Nightfall is out.

Uh, read the post above yours. One code per account. And Anet frowns upon selling the actual code. (could be a scam)

And Knightsaber, who cares if you sell it during the preview? You don't get to keep the gold, either. Everything (except unlocks) gained during the preview is wiped.

Yea but that would be easy to abuse anyways... they never said that only one of you characters COULD do the quest.... meaning that there will be lots of ppl farming using diff. characters...you could get 8 of them or even more then sell them for 10k or so each!!!!!....thats an easy 80+K!!!!! Something tells me that this minipet will be extremely easy to get, unlike a kuuna... I think that we will be able to buy them for cheap...

Also, the quest can be found in the beggining... its very easy to access to. And if the quest is avaible to ALL of your characters in your acount, then ppl would get the grey giant, then delete the character and keep doing it.. again and again O_o. Trust me this minipet will bring some bad news and will only be valuable in the beggiing when ppl are paying a lot...

Read the press release about the PvE event on the European GW site. It says European magazines should be getting Gray Giants before the preview event too.

??? From what I understand, you get the code, enter it to your account and get ONE (1) "broken toy" item when you type /bonusitem.

The broken toy has something to do with the quest that gives you the Grey Giant mini-pet. From what I understand, you cannot complete the quest without the broken toy, and you can only have one broken toy per account.

If you delete your character with the broken toy, you've probably lost it forever, like the Kuunivang mini-pet from the Factions CE.

So, I don't see how people will be able to "farm" mini-pets.

If there is some sort of bug that allows multiple Grey Giants per account, they'll discover it during the preview (which doesn't matter anyway in terms of gold or items kept), and it should all be good by the final release.

I could be wrong, but didn't I read somewhere that in order to get the grey giants back once the game is released that you just type /bonusitems?

If that is the case, what it stopping people from selling them, then just typing /bonusitems to get another?

Not sure if the /bonusitems thing is true or not.
