Items and Banned Character Names

I wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else. I named my Warrior "Faq U UP" and he was banned and my account was frozen for like 2 days. When I started the game up again, I had to rename that character that ANET deemed was not offensive. Fine, I renamed him and moved on with life. Now, all of my items that I had customized for "Faq U Up" are all on the new character. Also, if I customize a new weapon it will say customized for "Faq U Up" and not the new name. This makes me not want to customize any weapons for my new character. So my question is: Will the old items work with this new name? One of the items was a SSkai sword. If someone else uses the sword that is customized for "Faq u Up", they just dont get the extra 20% damage but all other benefits will work as long as they meet the min req right?

Yes, something very simular to that happened to me and the items can still be used. And no they wont. My old screenname was not offensive however, but they should still work.

They're customised for a reason... they don't work on other characters full stop. All i can say is
1. You shouldn't have used such a stupid/childish name.
2. If you don't customise them, here have this req13 white Longsword, its better than your uncustomised green.

Weapon Customization: When a weapon is customized for a character, it deals 20% more damage. Lets not turn this into a flame thread about names.(Even though Faq U Up is pretty witty and I don't consider it offensive) 
I really do need an anwser to this question: If I get a new item customized with my new character and the customized name is the old banned name, is this a bug that ANET needs to fix or does it still work on the new character even though the customized name is wrong? I guess i will try to use a sword at the training grounds, customize it and see if the damage increases.

Loviatar- The sword does definately work for me. I do decent damage with it. If it did not work at all, I would be punching. So is it a bug that lets me use it becuase it is the same character different name or is it that I am just not getting the 20% increase from customization?

He had a improperly named character. He had customized items for this character. AN forced a name change, new character name can still use the old character name armors/weapons. Even with a new name, the person has never been deleted, so it is still the same person, technically.
The thing youre referring to is if, I had character a, got tired of her, deleted character a, kept her customized items, then one day, was bored, remade character with same name as character a. Cant use the customzied items because its a different 'person'.

When I get home tonigt, I will buy a max sword test damage then customize it and see if the damage is more. I will post some pics, if anyone is interested. Thanks for replies guys!

ah I've been banned a couple times over different characters for the names.. The old banned name will still appear on your customized items and you can use them just like before the name change

If a sword is customised it means NO other character can equip it (ie. physically be holding the weapon). This means if you can wield the weapon and hit stuff on your newly named character then there is no problem, and you gain all benefits when you meet the req.

The way customization works is basically like this. Each character you create is given a unique id on the main server. If you delete that character, the unique id is still tied to the unique character, and cannot be reassigned even if another character is created with the same name. All customized equipment is customized not to the name, but to this unique id. Since you are still the same character, with the same unique id, all your customized equipment will still work. If it didn't, you'd be running around naked and unarmed.

Why did Anet freeze the OPs account for 2 days but not mine? I tried calling one of my characters "Celestial Beaver"...Anet said it was an unacceptable name. I kinda get it with the beaver thing but, come on...I think that one's a little bit off... All I can say is Anet must have a really wierd library of words. I wonder if it would let me have "Furry Bits" or "Landing Strip"?

They can still forbid you to use the word because it's their site. I have had some ridiculous names blocked also. Can't remember them anymore. They have strange rules for names, but it is still their call.
