Deleted Bonus Mini-Pet Dragon

I have the Ch2 CE and as soon as I entered the key and loaded my character I got a message that clearly says to type /bonusitems and that to be careful not to delete the bonus item because it is a once time deal.

Its your gf mistake and I'm with Anet here. If you can get a refund from the store you bought it from then good for you otherwise live and learn.

Imagine if /bonusitems is repeatable, then everyone with a Ch2 CE would be a virtual GW gazillionaire since you can sell Kunnies for 100k a pop.

ROFL as hutton gets owned in the face by axe-wielding anet lawers (think Daredevil, but in full glads w/knights boots and stoneskins).

I deleted my ranger once... something i had significantly more time invested in than a stupid minipet... you dont see me complaning. Not to mention valuable items sold to the merchant :P.

Well, now, hold on a second. The only way Hutton would know about the pet mini-dragon is by reading it on the internet, correct? I mean, is it advertised on the box now or something?

I personally don't want Anet spending valuable time digging up lost mini-pets, or ectos, or FoW armor, or anything else someone may have lost. They're are what, 3 million people playing this game? I'm sure at least half of them lost something valuable. Where do you draw the line?

To be clear, the Dragon does nothing. It offers no in-game benefits, it can only be seen in instances, and although it may be the prime reason Hutton bought the CE, the CE is not advertised that way. (If I'm wrong, and recent CE's do mention the Dragon, then I am wrong, and Anet should say in the box how to redeem it and the consequences for deleting it).

EDIT: According to Boxterduke, they even have warnings in game! I don't have a CE, so I didn't know this.

I'm truly sorry your GF lost her dragon, Hutton, that sucks. But, many of us have deleted items accidently, (or were scammed from them), and in the end, it hasn't hurt our enjoyment of the game, which, frankly, offers much more than mini-pets.

Your attacks against Anet seem extreme considering the circumstances.

Ummmm... As far as I know Kuunavang was never a selling point for the Collectors Edition. It was only an after thought. It was a thank you for buying the collectors edition and not a part of the box set itself.

I did, and to be honest, it is her fault for not reading the website, it's there in plain English and there is an in-game message about only being able to get the pet once. Next time you plan on arguing your point, please make sure it makes sense. Just because she didn't read the website doesn't mean she can get her dragon back. Ignorance is, yet again, no excuse.

If it weren't on the site, or in an in-game message, however, it would only make sense to return it, but when it is in BOTH places, it's her fault. I feel no sympathy for her not being intelligent enough to read the message in-game. I bet she learned her lesson, though.

There was even a poll saying that should Kunnie be included in the future ch2 CEs and lost were saying no since any future buyers did not have to wait like the people who waited almost 2 to 4 weeks to get their CE and then Alex Weeks posted in that thread saying that Kunnie will be in all Ch2 CEs as a thank you.

And on a side note, restoring a character from a tape backup would require lots of planning. It will be like the time when they had to restore the game back when the merchant server went down and GW was down for several hours.

Customer Service has one target: helping customers within the boundaries of the rules/laws, whatever. If you want someone that makes you happy, go visit someone of "negotiable affecting".... (kudos Terry Prachett).

This isn't the first MMORPG I play, and it won't be the last. Before I start a game I read sites, containing info on gameplay, skills etc. etc. Just like when you buy a car, you RTFM so you know cars run on gasoline/diesel instead of tea with sugar.

I care. But I care bout ppl that actually got ripped off by Anet, like when they banned 400 accounts to catch 200 botters. I care about ppl that can't log on because they've got crappy server management. I don't care that much for ppl that delete stuff and then complain about it.

The game performed its promised function and everything promised was delivered.
After that you are on your own. If the deletion of the character for no other reason than vanity over the looks of a cartoon character was her decision, she has to learn to live with the consequences.
I had to say something. The whole thing is so ridiculous. What happens next time the server crashes while she plays Guild Wars Anet needs to buy her a whole new Computer?

Also it's not my responsibility to seek out the conditions on which a feature is contingent. If they're going to present it anywhere, it's their responsibility to make me aware of any conditions.

Thank you for your constructive criticism. I would think that because the feature was advertised (putting on a website counts as advertising. providing a warning of terms of use restrictions in some of the places where the feature is mentioned is not a sufficient measure) as part of a real product (a computer game) that I bought with real money, and not with virtual money used within the game, consumer protection laws would trump intellectual property laws, but I don't know anything about intellectual property law, so you may be right.

I don't know where everyone is getting the idea that I intend to sue Arenanet. That would be insane. I have just filed some complaints with the appropriate agencies. That is free. It’s what our tax dollars are for.

The onscreen warning does not use the words "mini-pet", and is not a sufficient warning for someone not familiar with the interface or conventions of the game.

And I don't know why she deleted her first character. It was new, she was playing with it. I'm sure it's not that unusual.

You're whining over a dragon dude.. You have bigger issues than Guild Wars.

Just as a point of clarification, you're right. The game Guild Wars and it's CD along with the contents of the box are physical property that falls under federal trade laws (that's why people can get sued for copying and reselling computer games). If Anet was advertising something in the box that would be tangible (such as a kunavang plushie) and wasn't in the box, then it would be as you say.

On the other hand, the intangible contents of the game itself (i.e. characters and character modeling, storyline, cutscenes, items, armor, pets, minipets etc.) all fall under intellectual property laws, and thus are not classified under Federal Trade standards.

I don't see any fault w/ ANet. I also believe that they fully have the ability to restore the mini-pet (or load you up with every green in the game, or whatever else they wanna do) in a matter of minutes. Kudos to them for sticking to thier guns and not caving into 'let's save this one overbearing customer in the name of satisfaction'.

I do feel the pain but there is not much you can do. My wife deleted her character and forgot she had 60k still on her... she just moved on after the "ouch" that was felt.

I do understand but since it was due by the actions of the player, anet will not be able to do anything. I also understand your furstartion and why the tone of your posts are as they are.

Gw is different from other mmorphs, since it's a free (no fee game), GW does not have staff or game masters to correct things like this when compared to FFXI, Wow, etc... Just like they will ban someone for devious trade scams if brought to attention .. but zero re-embursment from the person that got scammed.

What I will do is suggest in the suggest forums that things like the dragon be callable with a command but treat them like pre-order items, can't trade.

They can do that on the Dev. server but on the game server they have put in safeguards so no one can spawn in game items. According to J. Strain in an resent interview

20 dollars wasn't just for the dragon, other things were included. At the most, $5 was for the dragon. You have reversed enough tickets to pay off this measly $5, haven't you?

Ultimately, I side with the guy who started this thread.

We, as customers, can't do anything to stop Arenanet until the next chapter comes out, and honestly, they have become sell outs, not caring about their customers.

In my opinion, they are becoming as bad as Dell. But hey, what can we do? Wait till they slip up to the point where they get what comes around.
