IDS once more
Azazeel
First, i apologize for another IDS(Icy Dragon Sword) thread.
I have been farming IDS's for the last few days (had no been doing it before) with my w/me build and i thought someone might have found a faster way to do it.
The build is :
1. Sprint
2. Charge!
3. Drunken Blow
4. Distracting Blow
5. Watch Yourself!
6. Healing Signet
7. Elemental Resistance
8. Dolyak Signet
Stats are:
Inspiration Magic: remaining points
Strenght: 15 (11+1+3)
Swordmanship: 11 (10+1)
Tactics: 11 (10+1)
I use Sentinel's Armors (100 armor) + the common warrior runes..
Sprint and Charge are there to run to the cave(from the Granite Citadel, heading to Mineral Springs)- http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Icy_Dragon_Sword -, i don't see myself getting past most things without both, but hey, I'm posting this to get suggestions. Drunken Blow for the +32 dmg and conditions it can inflict, low cost. Distraction Blow to interupt the Ice Beast's Mist Form, Savage Slash's 10 energy cost is too much for the warrior's two pips. The rest is pretty easy to figure, keep #5-7-8 all the time and healing signet when needed.
I haven't been dying with this build, as it provides more than enough armor to resist the damage, and you end up taking 5 damage or so per spell, which is easily healed by Healing Signet. But the thing is, it's not fast and i'm wondering if it wouldn't be possible to make it faster.
I thought i'd post this as well as one of the last IDS threat we'll see, and yes whatever they nerfed, it's still pretty easy to get it done with this solo build, I imagine doing it with a partner would be easier.
Thanks for whoever will help, I'm opened to all suggestions.

Hmmm. Do you deal with Ice Golems and Trolls easily?
Azazeel
I wouldn't want to encounter more than 1 troll at a time (with 7-8 imps), since the healing sig gets interupted easily.
I haven't had an Ice Golems in the cave so far, maybe i got lucky.

I heard of a w/mo build with defy pain, wy!, dolyak, and some healing spells but I dont know if it actually works.

I´ve been farming the imps for some weeks now, with a W/Me build, same armor and points. Got 10 IDSs so far, not an impressive number, but the drops are low or I farmed there too much in my tests runs.
My toughts:
I believe that Sprint is enough for the run, with 15 points on strength you have 14 seconds of running. The worsts points are in the end of Tasca´s Demise (even with Charge you can´t avoid been killed by the heretic on bad spawn situation) and in Mineral Springs, all you have to do is be careful before the east ressurection shrine (sometimes 3 mobs of avicara) and with the Tundra Giants if most of them are in the way, but you can always hit Dolyak if many of them agroo on you, Healing Signet when needed and hitting sprint when Dolyak ends. With the Hyl Thunderwing Avicara Boss spawn near the rock corridor, the same strategy aplies, hit Dolyak when Iron Mist is cast, Healing Signet and Sprint when Dolyak ends.
Replacing Charge! with Riposte should help with the Mountain Trolls with their Disrupting Chop (hit it after you use healing signet and watch the skill use of the Mountain Troll, you could use Shield Bash, but 20 seconds to recharge may be troublesome), Azure Shadows and Ice Beast.
I bring Server Artery to help with the damage (most for Ice Imps, Mountains Trolls and Ice Beast) because it´s adrenaline based (it could be bad to spent all energy on atack skills when Elemental Resistance is a must) and hits the Ice Beast even with Mist Form and plus Riposte the job is done. With the Azure Shadows I use only plains atacks and Riposte, with Dolyak and Elemental Resistance up, trying to pull only 3 of them every time.
And I bring Defy Pain too, because the Ice Siege Golem and their Rust hexes can make your healing really hard.
Sometimes, with two/mixed Mountain Trolls or Ice Siege Golems, I die when I´m trying to kill the second one and have to respawn with the 15% DP, but since only one of them is left, I can take care of the rest again and stripp the DP with exp points.
In general it takes almost 20..30 minutes (more or less) to do the run and clear the whole cave (Ice beast and Azure Shadows too). I don´t think that you can do it faster with this build, after the Absortion Update (aplies only on physical damage), this run is about staying alive than dealing damage.
I´ll try soon the W/Mo build with Defy Pain, Balthazar´s Spirit, Mending and and Live Vicariously plus some energy based atacks, but I don´t think it can be faster.
See ya!
And sorry for any misspeling or grammar error, english isn´t my first language.

Is it possible that you dont get a IDS if you kill the Imps with FDS?
Because after a few runes it still didnt dropped
Btw Wait Until the Troll uses Inter Chop on some other skill (which he will miss) Quickly use Healing Signet After Inter Chop, so no need for Ripsote there

I do it sometimes, when I´m fighting two Mountain Trolls or a Mountain Troll and a Siege Ice Golem, I bring riposte as a safe measure and to help with the Azure Shadows too.
Hey_homies
You can solo the imps if they aren't any avicaras or mountain trolls in ur way to the cave or if you get a nice spawn.
W/me 11+1 strenth 10 tacts 10 swords or axes. (didnt use any runes, you can if you want to) Skills: Severe(dismember for axe) gash(executioners strike for axe) elemental resistense dolyak signet defy pain(elite) healing signet endure pain sprint I use 90+ armor for this build or you can take sentinels and be easier. Cirian
Legionaire's is nice for a W/Me since you'll always get the +10AL while in stance bonus due to Resistance / Mantra stances. Ditto for stance weapons and shileds.

I hate to say it, but this is pretty much old news. Sorry.
