OK I know that guild wars is about team play and you should play with real people but many pick up groups are useless. Also, If I am worried that I may need to go AFK during a mission or whatever I don't like to screw over the group. As a result, I like to go out with henchies.
But the way henchies get drops really sucks. First of all, you dont get to see their drops so you dont get to learn if a certain area drops rare or unique items by watching what they get. Secondly, they are not required to pick up their drops - if I die my drops just lay there but they get all their drops. So, if I am out with one partner and some henchies, he can pick up my drops when I am dead (for long enough) but not those that belong to dead henchies.
The way henchie drops works promotes the idea of solo farming builds - so one person can get all the drops. An alternative that I think would be useful is to have another class of henchie - the mercenary, where you have to pay them a certain amount per hour (say the equivalent of 10 keys for the area) but they do not take any of their own drops. This would enable those who don't want to spend hours perfecting some solo build for farming a specific boss to have a decent chance of getting the rare item he drops. Also, if a henchie dies his drops should sit there just like a real player - another henchie coudl take them when they come free, or they could rez the dead henchie or I could run and scoop it.
Just a thought but I am getting pretty tired of trying to solo farm everything so I can get cash together for EGO armor and weapons. Basically, the way the game is set up you need to ahve a Whammo and a 55 to do your farming and then your other chars to play.
